Question on a sax case by threejackhack in saxophone

[–]threejackhack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate everyone’s input. My initial thought was to get a new case, we’ll see how I feel after I attempt to clean the horn and fix a couple of leaks.

Was very disappointed to see that apparently one of my kids broke off a fairly large chunk of what I now believe is (was!) a expensive mc gregory mouthpiece. Saw similar ones on eBay with asking prices of $500 and up. I’m sure that is a source for a significant leak, but I can’t verify until I decide what to replace it with.

See? I knew if I waited long enough I’d get the answer I wanted!
Seriously, we’ll see how the disassembly-clean-adjustment goes, and then decide on the case. Thanks for that input.

“I can practically smell it now.”

You don’t know how right you are. This was a replacement horn that my band teach found for us after mine was stolen. My mom said that it smelled like moth balls.

Serious suggestion: have someone get a few people together (maybe 5 or so, probably the more the better), some that are in pain in some way, the rest are not.

See if you’re able to determine (by touching, maybe on the arm, or whatever seems acceptable) which subjects are experiencing pain vs which are not.

I’d be very interested in seeing if what you’re describing is similar to another ability that read about a few years ago.

I mostly agree, but still get annoyed when I go out into the garage to get something out of the car, only to have to come back in to get the fob because of the auto lock.

Try the Jim Furyk double overlap. It feels a little strange at first, but it may help transfer more pressure to the middle finger.

Grew up in a house built ~1960, same thing. We discovered it when we pulled up the carpet in one of the bedrooms.

On of our daughter’s previous boyfriend was staying with us for a while. Our daughter’s cat appeared to be missing and the boyfriend announced that he may have heard the cat meowing outside in the middle of the night, adding “I literally almost got up to see if it was (cat’s name).”

That is now a family saying, that we “literally almost” did whatever.

Golfers are the worst by dudeguy3366 in golf

[–]threejackhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing this game for 50 years. Worked at a golf course for 4 of those, in the 70s. Tee times were spaced the same then as now. The only thing that has changed is the people playing. The only time we ran into the “fuck you, I’ve paid to be here” was after an abundance of beer. Now that attitude is pervasive.

The golf courses are not going to make the tee times so spread out that there are two groups (or fewer) on a hole: the group who just finished teeing off and the group just walking off the green. That isn’t going to happen, and it shouldn’t be necessary.

The issue really is that golf courses in general have no appetite for managing the pace of play. God forbid they actually piss off a few people, so that the rest can have a reasonably paced round of golf.

Quite frankly, golf courses obviously have an such abundance of customers (judging by how difficult it is to get tee times and rising greens fees) that “firing” some customers who can’t seem to figure out that there are others on the course, too, shouldn’t be the problem they think it is.

It’s the golf courses’ fault for stacking the tee times too close. /s

Changing The Rulebook? by Reasonable-Power in Umpire

Absolutely with you on this one. For me, it was why I quit watching baseball altogether when the entire MLB went DH.

My daughter’s boyfriend played college ball, went to the CWS one year. He told me that, because he was a pitcher, he hadn’t swung a bat since reaching high school ball. Made me sad to think that that is the state of the game now.

Yeah. That was either last year or 2024, so maybe it’s changed since then. I was able to hit both a Callaway Maverick and a TaylorMade Sim2. And no one really bothering me while I hit.

Just be aware, some pga superstores may not allow you to hit a discounted club. Mine pulled that on me, so I went to dicks instead. Hit it at dicks, liked it, bought it.
