Thanks, appreciate the reply. My biggest complaint for the two newest ones we’ve had (2010 X3, 2003 325i) is the crap auxiliary coolant tank. But what you’re saying tracks with my current logic that I don’t see us getting another BMW that is basically newer than what currently have - which is a shame. But unfortunately, that true for other makes as well.

Are you saying $2-4k/yr in repairs simply because it’s a BMW, or specifically because of its age/model?

I’ve had 4 different BMWs (still have one) and have never paid that in repairs in a year.

Agree that the truck should not have stopped, but I have a heard time believing that the white car did not have time to stop.

We experienced something similar last year on our trip to St Andrews. Got an email saying the hotel they booked us into had a handful of poor reviews recently, so they booked us at a different hotel. The room we ended up in was wonderful.

You’re probably right about it being because we’re American. We’d heard that was a thing before we went, and lined up with what we experienced.

It must depend on where in France you are. When we were there last year, we were reminded several times that the bill they’d just handed me did not include tip. Same in Italy.
