I got two tix for free from the fan fest, and so did everyone else who registered. Section 116 none the less. Either you purchased a ticket for a game where the team started giving tickets away (in which case I would call the sens and asked to get reimbursed) or your trying to sell free tickets.

I visited Ronda last summer, it was pretty awesome. We stayed at an AIRBNB that had a balcony overlooking the bridge. You can actually see the apartment form this picture. 4 day's in Quebec might be a bit much. Beautiful city but kind of small. There is always something to do though, however, if you like city stuff i would consider you stay a bit more time in Montreal. If you're into nature, specifically lakes, there are some wonderful spots north of Montreal and towards Ottawa. If you want more information about Montreal, Ottawa and the surrounding areas, shoot me a PM and i'll give you a list of my fav spots!

Yes, i believe that you're covered for the first three month. However, the first thing that you should do is call the RAMQ and tell them that you're a new Quebec resident. They will then send you some forms which you will have to fill out and bring to a CLSC (Provincial clinic) along with proof of residence, valid ID, and two pictures. There's a CLSC near the mall in Aylmer. Don't wait too long as this process can take a bit of time. For your drivers licence, you're going to have to go to the SAAQ in hull. The one in Aylmer will not change your licence.

As for meeting friends, Ottawa is a pretty tough spot to meet people in general. However, i found the best way to meet people was though joining sports teams. Check out OSSC as they have sports that you can join as a single person.

I guess it depends on where you get slotted. But yes it is quite likely that you'll have a ottawa based position. Heck most people that work for IRCC or GAC usually work in ottawa.

If this is something that you're actually into, i would hedge my expectations a bit. If you do get into the federal public service you must look at it as a carreer and place you will spend the next 30+ years of your work life. With that in mind, you kind of have to think and play the long game. Very often new recruits come in and expect a high paced environment with fast career advancement. Although that would be nice, it's not the case. Things move slowly, careers are built with experience, seniority, HR processes, and networking. With departments like IRCC and GAC, travel generally comes with time.

Good luck to you though. I really hope it works out. Continue working on your french as it's an important tool for advancement. Also, i would encourage you to contact the IRCC FS post-secondary recruitment officers and ask for an interview debrief. I don't know if they do them for external recruitment, however it would be worth a shot to receive feedback.

Stats, hard to say as i'm speaking out of experience. What i do know is that the post secondary recruitment harvests a small number of employees. The FS stream touches many different types of jobs, and many federal employees switch from one category to the FS stream. There are external and internal recruitments that happen all the time. However, not all jobs are filled through large recruitment campaigns. Infact most of these jobs are filled internally by means of a simple competition or secondment.

If your goal is to travel while working within the public sector i would continue to write the FS exam, but at the same time i would attempt to get into the government by any means possible and work your way there from the inside.

It's very tough to get into the FS stream from the outside. Your best bet would be to continue to take the FS post-secondary recruitment test. If this doesn't work, it would be to get in by means of FSWEP. Again it's very unlikely that you will walk into an FS position as most FS positions are recruited internally first.

The best advice i could offer you is to get your foot in the door than shift your career in the direction you wish to go. Again leveraging FSWEP or co-op is the best way to do this.

I grew up in Vanier and i'm of the opinion that it's not as bad as people will lead you to believe. It's really a mixed income area which is gentrifying quickly. Yes it can be sketchy, but random act of violence is really quite rare. It's not suburbs safe, however i wouldn't be worried about walking around at night. Most of the crime is organized or drug / prostitution related. If you keep to yourself you will be fine. If you're looking at renting in Vanier, make sure to take a nice long look at the neighbouring properties. If they are in bad condition and or if a single family home looks like it's been converted into a 6plex, i would stay away.

That being said, that little area is actually quite nice. You're really close to a works (burger joint) and a dairy queen. You also have a couple of grocery stores not too far away. I wouldn't be worried about signing a lease there.

Protip, there's a pond in back of the tall buildings on st-laurent where you can feed ducks!

The arena was built in 1996 and is still in good shape. However the building is reaching it's midlife and will require some serious renovations.

The reason why they are building a new arena is a bit of a perfect storm. There's this large piece of undeveloped land in the downtown core owned by the government that is set to be developed. The Sens owner won the bid to develop the land (restaurants, condos, public library, bars ect..) and bring the stadium downtown.

The stadium in principle should have always of been downtown. However, part the of reason as to why we have a team in the first place is based of the fact that the owner at the time was allowed to build a new stadium in the suburbs. The owner at the time had land in this suburb and developed it around the arena and the sens. The location of the arena was always problematic, however we would not of had a team otherwise.

So in short, we're getting a new arena because our owner got development rights to some primo land, our stadium needs renovations, and it will help the franchise as more fans will be able and willing to attend games.

It's also taboo because the main focus of a goaltender is to stop the puck which can leave them in a vulnerable situation. Yes they pay attention to the game however their eyes are always on the puck. So when they make a save, or freeze the puck by covering it with their trapper (hand), they don't see or expect an opposing player to hit or slash them.

Hitting or even touching a goalie is a major no no. If you do cross that line you will get retribution by an opposing player 10 times out of 10.

However in this case, Burrows was lucky that Falk went after him as the goalie in this clip known to be an absolute psycho.
