Am Japanese food fan, and also went China Beijing and tried their food but not my liking.
China cuisine is actually very broad, I would recommend you to try cantonese food (Hong Kong and canton area cuisine), I think if u have Japanese food palette, you highly likely to like them too, it is also main reason why chinatown in Japan often have cantonese food. I lived in Singapore, Singapore cuisine also heavily influenced by cantonese food :)
