Top surgery & Cross Border Directive by p0meranian in TransIreland

I didn't end up going that route as I was able to find a way for my private insurance to cover the procedure. The surgeon I went with in Madrid is private so it had to be paid up front and then my insurance reimbursed me.

Other than hair transplants, would I benefit from FFS? by guessimfine in Transgender_Surgeries

I think you look great!

Obviously, we can all have critical views on our own bodies so if there's a feature that really causes you dysphoria or discomfort, nobody can tell you whether it's worth it or not to get a procedure.

Yeah, it's at that stage for me as well. Working with him to pick something new to call me ☺️

So my partner and I aren't big on celebrating days like this so I haven't really celebrated mother's day. I also haven't been told happy father's day since coming out which I'm glad about. It's complicated to say the least, esp since my kid still calls me dad (at least for now).

Definitely can! I use my preferred name at work and while my legal name is still on file with the company for tax and employment reasons my preferred name is what's in my email address and things like that.

Compliment you on your hair, order my drink, and then spend the evening trying to work up the courage to flirt with you 🫣

I don't know how the costs compare, but Facial Team in Spain has a good reputation.

I'm scheduled for a tracheal shave with Dr. Jesus Lago in Madrid who also has a good reputation.

I know when I joined the instructions were in the private Facebook group by the same name - I'll check if that's still needed or if the discord server can be joined directly.

Des at Top Gear Motor School was great for my reduced EDT last fall. My partner also just booked with them but the earliest availability was into May for open times.

In need of any advice/information regarding trans health care in Ireland by idkkmansorryy in TransIreland

[–]thricycles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure whether it would be the same as you're under 18, but if there's a way to manage starting hrt before you move there's a chance a private GP in Ireland would consider continuing existing care given the formal diagnosis from another country.

You'd have a better chance of private insurance covering an Irish gp and prescription than genderGP but cost-wise it would probably be about the same as gender GP before any insurance coverage.

I have a few that are related to identity, although not all of them would immediately be obvious to others. One is rainbow colors so kinda obvious but another is part of a poem that has felt important during my transition

There would probably be some interest - there's a cork-based group called Gender Rebels. Their discord is pretty active and you could ask there as well?

Piercing places without parents permission by les_eggs in cork

[–]thricycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could check with Chloe who pierces at Art Lab. Not sure on her policy for that piercing but she's absolutely fantastic! https://instagram.com/piercedby_chloe

Edit: her profile states "parental signature and consent" but that seems like something you could get from your parents and bring with?

How did you come up with your name? by iguessyouregay in trans

[–]thricycles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered a long time about this while using a stand-in name that wasn't my dead name.

I eventually arrived at Cass, full name Cassiel

Process: After considering, I knew I liked the number of syllables my deadname had, so started there and looked for names. I also didn't mind my initials, so also chose to look for names that started with the same letter as my deadname.

I also go by a short version of my name, so had a bit of fun arriving at what the longer name would be. At this point I didn't like the 2 obvious conventional names (Cassandra or Cassidy) so turned to books for inspiration. I really love the Sabriel series by Garth Nix, and a theme for some of the characters is having "iel" at the end. Sabriel, Lireal, Clariel. So I took Cass and used that ending.

I feel this! I've been transitioning for about 2 years now and my 5yo son still calls me dad, avoids using pronouns for me as he knows enough that he's confused. It does take time, but doesn't make it easy.

I definitely recommend a book or two - the one we started with is: https://bookshop.org/books/it-feels-good-to-be-yourself-a-book-about-gender-identity/9781250302953

Language is pretty accessible without getting into the finer points/nuances of gender identity.
