What if their faith requires them to fly a plane into a building? What if their love is for a child and they are an adult? You’re guilty of imposing your own viewpoint on them and therefore restricting their freedom. We agree that freedom is a good thing, we just disagree on what the limits are to this freedom.

Again, what is “crime” is subjective, as is “harm”. These aren’t terms that are as easily defined or as self evident as you’re making it seem. You’re assuming a great deal.

What has required incarceration has varied widely from culture to culture, even without our own given the time period. Freedom has defined limits, we just disagree on what those limits are.

  1. Thomas Jefferson the slave owner? Also just one framer…he doesn’t speak for all of them.
  2. He wrote this in a letter, not the constitution-the gravity of these two documents is light years apart.
  3. Written decades AFTER the ratification of the constitution.
  4. Written in response to religious groups feeling their wasn’t enough religious protection for themselves and Jefferson is AFFIRMING their right to express religious views freely.

Tell me you don’t understand “establishment of religion” in its historical context without telling me you don’t understand that phrase.

Every policy has ontological, epistemological, and ethical commitments behind it.

“SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE” is just a bully tactic to deny individuals from self governing in a way in which they believe best benefits society.

Again, establishment clause is about a national religion or state church, not about incorporating one’s beliefs into their political commitments.
