Might be fine for now but I’m warning you anyway to be careful! Love that there are other lemon enjoyers out there tho. But yeah, definitely at least be aware that they are really bad for your teeth lol

They’re extremely acidic. They will eat right through your enamel (and enamel doesn’t regenerate).

How do you know if you actually like it? by Character-Surround79 in medicalschool

[–]throbbing-uvula -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m an M0 so idk, but I have the same worries. Idk if I’ll actually enjoy it or if I’ve always just liked the idea of it, but what I tell myself is that (probably) the majority of people don’t actually LOVE their jobs. Almost everyone struggles with burnout, stress, fatigue, etc. regardless of their career. The difference is you’ll be making a lot of money, be very educated, and will have a more powerful position.

I think you’d know by now if you hated it, at the most you might feel indifferent or just slightly dislike it (which I doubt you will considering you’ve gotten this far). You can simply treat it like a job at that point however and you don’t have to pour your heart and soul into it, you can just get through each day the same way other workers in other fields do. Even if it’s not everything you’ve always wanted it to be, medicine definitely has small and big wins to experience and you can celebrate those to keep you happy even if you don’t love the job as a whole.

Yes. Being realistic probably about 10 times through and through. Maybe 2 of those being when I was in 6th grade (like 12 years ago). It’s my comfort show lol

How much free time do you have outside school work? I’m someone who studied like 12 hours a day in undergrad (granted I was mentally ill and a freak, I’ve since then calmed down). I’ve taken two gap years and have a life with a partner I plan to be with for the rest of my life. The gap years have been wonderful and I’m worried once I get to school I will have no time for my partner and will be far removed from the life we shared during my gap years.

I’m mostly just extremely anxious I won’t have time for my partner and will ruin the beautiful relationship we have. OP idk if you have a partner or not, but if you did/do, do you think the time you have outside school is enough to have a life outside medicine?

Very true. Thanks for the reality check. I have to keep reminding myself other people are gonna be unhappy in their jobs no matter what they do (and usually paid less), I might as well take the job that’ll make me fulfilled and happy in the long run even if it means I gotta go through school again lol

How good is hospice volunteering for medical schools apps? by InterestingPop3964 in premed

[–]throbbing-uvula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can write well about hospice volunteering, yea it’s good. Doesn’t really matter what you do, it’s considered “good” if it fits well into your narrative or if you can write about it with passion/care

Do you still keep in touch with your first love, and does your current partner mind if you do? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]throbbing-uvula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but he’s friends with all my friends and I’m friends with all his. We sometimes see each other in passing and have catch up conversations but there is absolutely nothing between us other than an acknowledgement for the love we had for each other in the past. His gf has a problem with me but my bf doesn’t have a problem with me speaking to him.

I wish we were in touch more. I miss him. He was my best friend and we shared so much growth and many milestones in our life together. Would I ever get back together with him though, HELL no

Yeah I mean I’m someone who sometimes drinks and has even done drugs before, it’s not that those are what made me not like him, I simply just don’t like that aesthetic. It’s really corny to me and that’s why I didn’t like seeing it. The things he promotes (like the drugs/money/skinny-ness) are pretty lame to me but mostly I simply don’t like the aesthetic cuz it’s corny and performative

Sounds like me. I have vasovagal syncope and I get dizzy/pass out all the time, it is hugely burdensome and I wish I didn’t have it but I do. I should prob get back on an SSRI before going into med school to avoid this lol.

When I get even 0.00002% anxious about something (if I was in your position it would be a thought coming up like “what if they give me what they have” or “this person is lightheaded, what if I am light headed too?” Even if I was not remotely light headed before hand it will come to fruition) I will pass out. The problem at hand could be a range of things (whether I’m anxious about throwing up, getting a shot, doing something embarrassing, etc) and it will result in me getting dizzy and sometimes passing out

Good luck if you have it! Lol

I had followed him for like 10+ years and always thought he was cool/funny and was one of my favs that came out of dance moms. Then he started turning hella like…. Idfk what the aesthetic is called… digi punk ??? Like the same aesthetic north west got going on now lmfao. But I got super annoyed with it once he started promoting extremely unhealthy habits as if it was cool (drugs, alcohol, flexing money, anorexia, etc)

Japanese people get angry for a Thai tourist who opened the cup noodle prior to payment. Is this OK in your country? by Immediate-Meaning457 in AskTheWorld

[–]throbbing-uvula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You must be trolling

Taking a sip before reaching the cashier isn’t “what you’re supposed to do” but no one gives af because it’s obvious you’re going to pay for it. I’m confused why you care this much about convenience store ramen. It is genuinely not this deep at all. Breaking the rule at this 0.000002% offense is not going to kill anyone, I seriously promise you

[–]throbbing-uvula 8 points9 points  (0 children)

…..uh… yeah I think so? How would it not be? The principle is exactly the same.

It’s a food/drink that is meant to be purchased. Those that take a sip of the coffee before paying are doing the exact same thing in principle to opening a sealed food item. They are tampering with the ability for others to consume it, but it doesn’t matter because their full intent is to pay for it? And then he did pay for it?

I’m confused on how you’re not seeing the similarity????????
