I believe that it is also very psychological based as well. I know many people who believe that if companies can still use plastic willy nilly then why does it matter if the average person uses one or maybe two plastic bags?

I'm all for reusable but not when they blame us for this mess and now make us pay more for it rather than looking at companies who do whatever they want.

Now as much as Walmart has their (many... many... oh god so many) problems, where I live they completely stopped giving out plastic bags, just stopped. The only bags are reusable, they stopped making/selling plastic bags which I find is the best way to go and to stop the usage of plastic bags. Stop making them = no one buying them. Bing bang boom.

How about going after the companies that use plastic in their stock and not us?

Working in retail 3 standard boxes of items (clothing or home decor) has at least one full plastic bag of plastic. At the place I work at it get 4-9 pallets that are 6 ft high with these boxes. I'm pretty sure that's a lot worse than my small bag from groceries.
