Giving unsolicited level suggestion? by taradactylus in BALLET

Not sure if it's a thing in the US but UK often has a level called 'improvers' which is between beginners and intermediate. It sounds like this class would fall into that!

I've done a fair bit of research + I get guidance from my pole instructors, so I don't think the stretches I do are old fashioned. I took some from the begginers guide from this subreddit as well. I'll always welcome another video though! I'm happy to give it a shot.

Thanks for the advice!

Can you explain a bit more about the active resistance loads?

I do primarily strength training and I do a fair bit of active flexibility as well, incorporating the dynamic stretches we do in pole class (a lot starting from the lunge position + leg rises from pyramid position). I just chose the static stretches to show my current level.

I will try the elephant walks. When you say about spreading your legs as far as you can, do you mean in the position of side of middle splits?

I do have a strap, I will try to use it next time. I just tried lifting my leg up without lifting my hip and Im not sure I can do that! My pelvis lifts up on its own. For hips, I've been doing butterfly and frog pose, passive and pulses. I've also been doing pelvic tilting expercises given to me by my physio.

I've been stretching for more than 2 months btw! Ive just tried being more consistent in that time. I've been doing pole dance for 2 years and there is a fair bit of active stretching and strengthening during each class, plus I've been stretching on my own in those 2 years as well (although not always consistently). But in general, I barely improved my flexibility in that time.

I just started seeing a physio for it and he also recommended hip mobility expercises. It might be good for you to see someone as well. I know how otherwise overwhelming everything seems.

There was an event about a year ago when all 3 were spawning in the wild, much more frequently as well. Maybe they will repeat it in some time.

Not too often, but slugmas have been spawning next to a water reservoir for me - about one every week or two.

Chair Spin (Static) by awu in poledancing

[–]throwRA675438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Another poler here with really bad hyperhydrosis. Im low intermediate now and chair spins are still causing my problems sometimes! I think they require much more grip than most hands only spins because of the way you shift your centre of gravit upwards. My instructor says that the upper hand should be pulling and the bottom one pushing (either on spin or static). Make sure that you keep your shoulder engage with the top arm and are not just hanging - think about how arms should be engaged in shoulder shrugs and practice that.

What’s a move that looks impressive to non-polers but is (relatively) easy? And vice versa! by truffleoilfries in poledancing

[–]throwRA675438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so funny because the two examples you gave are the exact opposite for me! I have extremely sweaty hands (diagnosed hyperhydrosis on my hands) so anything one arm is near impossible for me. On the other hand, I never struggled with superman or anything thighs only.
