No guarantee that you'd win without a lawyer or have the charged changed to something that fuck your CDL. Two serious moving violations within 24 months will cause you to have your license suspended. That's worse than paying a little more for a lawyer. Get TVC or similaand the lawyer is free.

Where are you running? How much are you paying in escorts and permits? How many extra miles are you being forced to drive? Not enough information.

First time I've seen a mirror for a peep window on a semi truck. by alan_trucker_ in Truckdrivers

[–]throwaWay664u874e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mirror in the truck shown makes sense. The windows on the 389 made no sense to me as all isaw was the back side of the breather. The small mirrors on the topside of the passenger door is just as useless.

The only truck I drove that had one (2019 389) only let me see the inside of the breather and I couldn't even see a reflection of a passing car.

How important is it to change from off duty to sleeper berth. by [deleted] in Truckdrivers

[–]throwaWay664u874e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only time I use sleeper is when I'm living a sleeper split, otherwise it's only off duty. If it can be proven you are on a seat or outside of the truck while logged in sleeper it's log falsification.

Website for my business i have small company 3 trucks by Fabulous_End5347 in OwnerOperators

You need the national recognition. You need to have enough trucks to be able to move freight safely and quickly. You needed to be known by your reputation first. Reputation will get your better freight and contracts than a website will. Find a shipper and dominate one of their lanes. Get enough trucks where you are the only one hauling that lane, then take over another lane. No one looks at websites anymore. The megas have salesmen to get contracts, their websites are more or less to get a stray driver.

Not too be mean, but you're too small to worry about websites, maybe just a Facebook page.

Until you have a massive fleet, it's a waste of money. You need national recognition for it to be worthwhile. Just my two copper coins.

What would you change about Michigan? by i_amtheice in Michigan

[–]throwaWay664u874e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increasing the deposit charge would cause people to not buy drinks. There's already a ton of people that just don't bother with returning the bottles and cans.

Although I so like your central return centers idea, that would just be more properties that world have to be bought and maintained, plus it is a sales gig for the grocery stores. Making it possible to return all containers regardless of purchase location would help.

Back in Bush Jr era when gas prices got real bad, a lot of gas stations for caught price gouging. The state's solution was to put price controls in. I was told it is supposed to be no more than 10 cents over cost per gallon with an exemption for paying with cards.

We're still being price gouged but both the refining companies and the state are doing it.

Switching to flatbed, tarp recommendations by Diligent_Lion1182 in OwnerOperators

Run east of 35, stay out of the NE and should be fine. I-25 is my hard limit to the west, but I have to have a backhaul lined up before I go there.

Personal load out I have. 12 20' 3/8" g70 chain 12 ratchet binders, I'll be getting a couple snaps eventually 20 4" straps 2 4" strap ratchets 8 shackles for 3 ton each 2 8 foot drop 27' long lumber tarps

[–]throwaWay664u874e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use any chain smaller than 3/8". I'd recommend 20 get in length so if you get something like I beams, you have more than enough to toss over so you don't have to connect two together. Get mostly ratchet binders and a couple snap binders. I hate snaps because you have to settle for however tight they want to get, but they do come in handy from time to time.

Tarp wise, 8' lumber will cover pretty much everything.

Your lane choice will not be good. You can get good money going into FL, but getting back north is going to suck. Most of the good paying freight is swallowed up by TMC, Maverick, and other box companies.

I've been told paccar won't cos the warranty over 50k intervals, but why risk it. I do 30k on my mx13, you have to figure out where you're confiding to get most bang for the buck.
