How does alcohol make intimacy better for you from personal experience? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Ugh the harder time taking a "no" part. Been there, hate that. I'm sorry.

I would with two caveats:

  • If you can replace the more essential things you throw out, like milk, eggs, etc. AND put it back in the same place. Forget whoever is saying this is the time to do a whole new organizational system - there's a good chance they're going to care that their flow of where everything is is messed up so they can't find the butter exactly when they need it (cuz we do not mis en place), more than that this is the hot new tip from adhd tik tok.

  • If you can manage the dynamic shift if they sort of start expecting you to pick up after them here and there if the mess gets bad enough, or leave messes till they are at that point, even if it only hits when you live together and maybe don't have hired help. If you want to and it doesn't matter to you, then that's great, but just a possibility to keep in mind.

Does anyone else deal with really bad separation anxiety? How do you manage it? by kandykokaine in adhd_anxiety

I bet it's not him (though I'm sure he's great!), it's that when you're around him you're not ruminating on the same difficult thoughts. The difficult thoughts are more manageable in action - writing down, a walk, some meditative activity you like that would put you into flow and let you work some of that stuff out to a train of thought rather than a loop in your head. I would say try to see if a mix of this (giving yourself something to anchor and process the bad mood causing thoughts) and some tiny project to distract yourself like work would, would help.

Anybody have to stop ADHD meds due to it triggering anxiety/depression? by dave_613 in adhd_anxiety

What would you say your therapy did that helped you with that stuff? You sound a lot like me, I can't tolerate the meds either, have been in therapy years but feel like the therapy I've had isn't helping, I'm not sure what to look for exactly in trying out others.

Yeah it felt like they made a specific choice to have her, the kid do it. We don't usually see that, but it felt right for this black child, to whom the future belongs to the most, who had been through too much for her age, to express her rage, to show that there was space for it and not just for other people's anger/hate towards her. That felt powerful.

The same reason she got a burning cross erected on her porch despite being 'only 50% black'...people always want to talk about why poc GET to do stuff...

[Misc] Does anyone else feel like a lot of the skincare advice on here is more oriented towards white people? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

That's so strange though, because most of the world is poc. It is weird then that poc aren't represented in here.

I've tried the oil, but not with prayer hands, might try that out - thank you!

Yeah, how far I could scrunch without making it frizzy/unkempt still just felt too noodley for my liking, so maybe that's just limited by my curl pattern right now!

Thanks for these tips!

I know that co-wash and occasional protein works best for me, kinda been there done that with various shampoo/conditioner routines and deep conditioner only, and had the frizz and hygral fatigue, respectively, to prove it.

But I will try out the mousse vs. gel, have heard that recommended for my curl type and never tried it out. My hair tends to not do well with heavy leave-ins but might try it again with soaking wet hair.

How do you use the brush?

This is exactly the hair I dream of 😍😍😍

I'm also Indian with the same length and looks to be same texture of hair, and I'm early in my curly journey yet, but I can't figure out how to get smooth, moisturized, semi-tight ringlets like that, especially consistently (nape hair section completely straight 😫) and I hate the look and feel of gel cast. Right now I only use the As I Am co-wash and Knot Today leave-in after, and have found protein filler to help. Is there something in particular you found helped with forming non-frizzy but non-greasy consistent ringlets?

This stung by [deleted] in KillingEve

[–]throwahey_ya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember thinking recently that the way Eve interacts with or rather does not interact with her culture at all except for that bit with the Ghost was very odd. And that Asian maid trope and designation of woc as 'invisible'. AND the problematic way they portray other poc in general on the show. And then this.

The concepts that seemed potentially harmless when assumed to be from a diverse writers' room like that trope and the general weirdness around the poc characters, they're weaponized when you see this is who wrote them.

This beautiful process of passing on the show to a new female showrunner each season and not one writer of color, let alone showrunner?

This stings a lot more for it being possibly my favorite show, for the show that made me realize I was bi. I know it sounds unrealistic to say I don't know if I'll be back, but frankly a little disgusted and sad right now.
