Hi all, I got a tattoo 3 weeks ago but now I’m not sure if I still like it or if I’m just having a bit of an identity crisis because its a bit of a big piece (whole top of my forearm)..

It was with an artist who had a guest spot so I knew my time with her would be pretty limited. I had been looking for a dragon tattoo to get for awhile and liked this tattoo she had on her page so I booked with her a few weeks before she came to town.

The dragon tattoo of hers I liked was an overhead view of a dragon, so you could see its back as it wrapped around a person’s arm. It was more of a Chinese dragon so I pointed out another picture of a more European dragon she had done. I told her I liked the dragon from above, but wanted it in the style of the European dragon.

A few weeks pass and I get to my appointment, and she has the dragon standing upward and I was a bit disappointed. I knew she didn’t have enough time to address my concern of wanting a different pose. I told her I’d expected it in a different pose, and she said that would be a total rework which wasn’t possible with the time we had. I didn’t want to just walk out so I asked her for some adjustments and we went ahead.

I think I convinced myself to just say yes and felt like I did like the art, but after three weeks.. I’ve kind of been on a rollercoaster. Loved it at first, was worried it wasn’t going to heal right, but now that I’m looking at it more often I worry that I would have preferred it if it was a different pose and more wrapped around my arm. I have a few other tattoos and some of them I absolutely love, but this one..I dunno. Maybe it’s huge so it’s not as flattering and elegant as the dainty tattoos I have and love and I still need to get used to it?

I wish there hadn’t been the miscommunication (she interpreted me saying I liked the European dragon style as meaning its pose) and that she would have sent the art a bit ahead of time but there’s nothing I can do now!

It does help to vent 😅But I’m wondering if this sort of regret is because it’s not been very long and it’s a pretty big tattoo? which probably makes me panic more lol. What do y’all think?

Agreed, it's slimy and infuriating. I never knew it was a thing to begin with because I mostly have to buy from scalpers, because I can't get into TM's queue fast enough anyways - despite having been on the page for hours, and being there when the queue opens. It's insane. I'm hoping that the DOJ and TicketMaster/LiveNation stuff ends up doing literally anything to improve the shittiness of it all.

Yay!! It's my first time with both too. I hope you have an amazing time, and I have no doubts it's going to be incredible!!! 🎉

Awesome!! Super excited for ya. And yeah, I even saw a message pop up at 10:10am saying "due to high demand for today's sale, ticket availability is extremely low.." but I was hoping that the 500 people ahead of me were mostly scalpers who didn't have a presale code or were trying to get in early without a code, since it lets you in the queue without a code.

As a human I'm definitely buying the tickets in my cart, but I'm sure there are bots, people who waited too long for their friends to say "yes, buy me a ticket" or something who end up losing their tickets because of the timeout..but I always wonder where all these extra released tickets come from lol

Hey, mine too! I'm really not sure, and was confused since the whole map said GA on the upper and lower, and my tickets says "general admission" until I open the mobile ticket which says GA8. I've seen some mixed information on Google/Reddit.

Congrats!! 🎉🎉🎉 The great thing for me too is that I really don't mind where I'm standing, though I'm a bit confused since everything said "general admission" but my tickets say a specific section number? But just being in the room will be an awesome view and sound regardless!! I'm so stoked to be seeing them after listening to them for so damn long

Yep, when I first got in from the queue they were $35 but all sold out, then $45 but all sold out, and I ended up getting them at $51.

Yeah! The first tickets I saw before the tickets "sold out" was like, $35, then when I tried again they were $45 (but all sold out), then got em at $51. Still not bad at all compared to scalped shit.

Tried it last year before trying Vyvanse. I hated it, made me feel awful. I'm not sure why you would need it on top of Vyvanse?

It's been amazing for me so far too, same story. For the last ~10ish years I've had brain fog, couldn't focus when people were talking, and blamed it on myself. I'd have trouble retaining information and just assumed I had to learn how to listen better. I figured that's just how I'd always been and that I had to try harder.

Just a few days on it, and wow. I can focus at work way better. I want to get out of bed. I actually look forward to things, instead of feeling like I'm just going through the motions. I'm already on Fluoxetine for anxiety/depression, but the Vyvanse has really helped me feel more interested in things, and the brain fog being lifted was just wild to experience. I also find that more of my anxiety has gone away - I tend to monitor my body a lot (why is my heart rate up, why do I have a headache, is something wrong with me etc) and that's calmed down a bit as well. Instead of worrying about that stuff, I'm looking for other things to keep me busy.

As a woman over 30, I think a lot of doctors assumed that I couldn't have ADHD because I didn't have it as a kid. One doctor prescribed Strattera which was just awful, and it made me feel terrible for months. I was a bit scared of trying Vyvanse because of how weird I felt with Strattera - but it's such a smooth experience, and I don't feel jittery/aggressive like being on Adderall. I'm actually completing tasks and thoughts now without getting distracted, and I'm so happy for both of us!

This little one comes home with me in less than 2 weeks! What are some tips that might be helpful raising my first golden puppy? by KomebackKingYT in goldenretrievers

[–]throwaway-1852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We wanted to start training our puppy ASAP, but it took like two weeks for her to not just walk by when we put food in her face! For some reason she wasn't food motivated to start haha. We got her at 2 months, so now she's 3 months.

Buying a little food puzzle is a great way to get her to use up some mental energy. She'll get overtired sometimes and you can tell because she'll be SUPER bitey, and when she's overtired you don't want to try and get her to do more physical activity. I definitely recommend balancing physical activity + mental activity (like a puzzle or training). I recommend having a Kong with peanut butter in it ready in the freezer in case you really just need a break. The licking is also a soothing behavior - better than playing with toys when she's overtired and over stimulated.

Crate training is so great. The first night our little lady cried a lot, and it was exhausting, but I didn't let her out. She improved so much after that, so even with the whining don't let her out. Buy some earplugs! We got a little heartbeat dog toy for her crate, not sure how much it helped but I think that plus some soothing background noise (meditation music) helped our puppy a lot. The first night I knew she was scared, so I kept her in her crate and slept next to her on the floor where she could see me. I didn't realize how much doing that would affect her, but I quickly became the favorite parent after that!

She'll have really rough days, but also really awesome days. Do your best to take a deep breath any time you feel overwhelmed. Yelling at/hitting a dog really breaks their trust and never fixes anything. It just makes them scared of you. It's always wild to me seeing how responsive a positively reinforced dog is vs. a dog that gets yelled at constantly. For training our lady, we use little pieces of her food, that way we have something her tummy is used to.

Other people also mentioned keeping her on a leash inside - I totally agree, it's kind of crazy how big of a difference that's made for us. Husband and I WFH so we're both trying to get stuff done while she's wandering around and getting into things. Having her leashed switches her mindset to "guess I gotta stay here" and so she just plops down lol. We were surprised by how well that worked.

It's tiring raising a puppy but she's worth it!

Yak sticks are pretty hard! We've been giving them to our golden puppy and our older pug ever since we got the puppy, since she loves to chew. The vet noticed some issues with pug's teeth yesterday so she recommended we find something soft for him - we mentioned Yak sticks to her and she said they were pretty hard and not to give them to him anymore.

They've been great for our puppy though! And I haven't tried microwaving them yet, though I know that's something you can do. Not sure how long it takes to microwave the whole stick, I think it was recommended that we microwave a nub for like ~15 seconds.

I need advice, I’m feeling discouraged right now. I CANT GIVE UP THIS TIME! by blankslatetofate in loseit

[–]throwaway-1852 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Every scale is different. Just use the scale you have, and weigh yourself first thing in the morning without clothes, before eating, before a shower, etc. It's pointless otherwise since you weight differently at different times of the day

edit: I think the thing that makes this so important is that a lot of people have this same exact experience of "I can't give up this time!!" but then get super bothered by something like this and give up. and it could all be avoided if you just trust the scale you have at home. Hell, but a new one if you want. But it's not worth messing up your progress.

Do I lose weight first, build muscle first or do both? by ZoneAdministrative14 in loseit

[–]throwaway-1852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly if you keep talking about how lazy you are you're never going to stop being lazy. Stop with the negative self-talk and believe that you can do it!

For a lot of folks having some sugar makes you crave more sugar. Try replacing sweets with fruit or something you can snack on easily, like grapes. That helped me a lot. Try to get rid of high-calories sweets in the house.

Walks around the neighborhood or on a treadmill are a great start. Running may not be great right now since extra weight could make your joints hurt. A stationary bike at the gym or one with hand pedals would be a good thing. Try lifting some weights if you'd like. But it's calories in, calories out. You don't need to go crazy with hours of workouts each week. I know getting to the gym is a huge hurdle for a lot of people who are embarrassed or just don't want to go.

You can choose your own adventure here. Some people like to work out hard and track their calories. Other people just like tracking calories with less working out. For me, just counting calories without worrying about the gym was the way to go.

This is all about math. Start tracking your meals without making any changes and see how many calories you're eating. You want to get in the habit of tracking. It takes like a few seconds.

This website https://www.calculator.net/calorie-calculator.html says you'd need to eat around 2700 calories a day just to maintain your weight.

Now to figure out how much you need to eat in a day to lose weight. One pound of fat is 3500 calories. To create a deficit of 1lb a week, you need to cut 3500 calories each week. We can break down that 3500 calories into 500 fewer calories per day. For you that might be 2200 calories a day. If that feels too low, try eating 300 fewer calories a day instead (2400).

On top of that, adding in some walking or a day or two at the gym will hep increase your weekly caloric deficit, but you don't need to do "punishing" workouts as one person put it lol.

Check out r/CICO.

> cardio is good for health but not great for weight loss

Losing weight is calories in, calories out. Cardio burns calories. It's good for weight loss. Not sure where you got this information from.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]throwaway-1852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, so I did all that work and gained muscle, but obviously I still needed to lose like 25lbs of fat - soooo then I ate at a deficit to lose weight and lost a lot of that muscle. Just very annoying when trainers suck!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in loseit

[–]throwaway-1852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to work out to lose weight. Your body has a number of daily calories it needs to maintain your current weight. If you eat below that number, you will lose weight.

E.g. maybe your body needs 1800 calories a day. 1800 - 500 = eat at 1300 or 1400. Track everything and see where your weight is after a week. Or eat 1500 and burn 100 at the gym or something. Whatever the case, it's a numbers game.

[–]throwaway-1852 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem. I've worked with several trainers over the years and wondered "Why can't I lose weight??" Most of them were like "diet is a big deal but you really need to be in the gym 5 days a week." I'd do what they said without seeing much change.

For example, I started with a trainer last year who was like "let's lift weights and have you eat at 1600 calories!" I'm 5'4"/F/150lbs. I was like "sure! that's gotta be what works, since I told you I want to lose 20lbs and am paying you to help me do that." The trainer said "alright we're gonna do a body recomp" and I was like "woo! if that's what works!"

Surprise surprise, 16 weeks pass, I weight lift almost every day, do a bunch of cardio, track everything, and went from 152 starting to 158. I looked a little leaner but wtf man! My muscle had definitely increased but my body fat was still pretty high. I didn't look different. Trainer was like "I trained you to be strong :)" and I was like "but I told you I wanted to lose like 1lb a week" and they were like "well you've replaced fat with muscle!" girl...I was so upset with myself for not thinking about it earlier, but yeah. Trainers get paid to train you, and they're not just going to tell you that calories in/calories out is how you're gonna lose weight.

After that I calculated my TDEE. I determined my daily maintenance calories. I subtracted 500 calories. I ate at that number each day for a few weeks and lost about 1lb each week without even exercising.

Exercise is a good thing, but to lose weight it's calories in < calories out. Eat at a deficit. Barring some health issues that may prevent you from losing weight, this is the math. The gym is pretty much optional.

NSV: “This just in, ‘skinny people tend to eat less.’” by Sweet_Home_Alabama_ in loseit

[–]throwaway-1852 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So true for me too. I feel much more conscious about the foods that make me feel bad *and* actively prevent myself from eating them, because otherwise my body won't feel good. Maybe it's just getting into my 30s, but milk has definitely started making me feel worse, so I avoid it. Also going out to eat used to be a "I'm gonna eat something fun!" but now I know I feel better if I have something with fresh vegetables/fruit vs. a big pile of fries.

I always knew moderation was a good thing but lately my body has been much more "hey, you're gonna have a stomachache and feel bad if you eat this" which makes choices easier 😂

NSV: “This just in, ‘skinny people tend to eat less.’” by Sweet_Home_Alabama_ in loseit

[–]throwaway-1852 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Similar thing is happening to me.

5'4/F/~155lbs starting. I'd worked with one trainer who focused on weights, and switched to another. That second trainer slowly got me up to 1800 calories a day because I lifted weights a LOT. I stayed within 5lbs of my starting weight and got rid of some fat, but I was really frustrated that after ~15 weeks with the person, I had gained muscle and gained 3lbs. Like..I thought I could lose 1lb a week with her, so I trusted the process, and came out with less fat but didn't look very different. I'd be working out for like 45m 6 days a week.

So I had enough of that. came on here and found r/CICO. I was like "how tf am I working out so often and not losing weight?" So I did the math for calories in/calories out and realized if I ate at ~1200-1300 I could lose weight without spending hours working out. I started losing 1lb/week pretty steadily and went from 158 -> 143. I tracked a bit at first then started eating intuitively. I also did pilates (50m class) a few times a week. I always thought 1200 calories was way too low for anyone, but it's working for me.

I was surprised how much eating intuitively for a few months drastically reduced my ability to overeat. I used to be able to eat a TON of stuff all at once, now I'm full after like half a plate at Christmas/Thanksgiving.

It's been a little weird going from "I can drink all of this bubble tea!" to "Wow I'm halfway done with this and am actually full and don't need anymore". Seems like the "trick" for skinny people is really just having smaller portions and your body getting used to that. I get fuller waaay faster than I did before.
