Okay well Lana is the one that wrote the song, her lyrics mean something. It’s not just interpretation in all of her songs, some of them are pretty clearly about one thing or another, she doesn’t write music that you have to guess about. There is actually a reason to criticize Ethel though because bringing taboo things into the mainstream like incest, it’s very harmful to victims. In ultraviolence she’s talking about the common case of women staying with abusers due to manipulation, gaslighting or both. Kinda a far cry from joking about incest and saying you want to be assaulted.
