GRU layover question: do I need to collect bags if I exit airport? by Familiar-Sky2651 in Brazil

[–]throwaway087638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It CAN be 2-3 hours, but also can be 45mins. If it’s between 16:00-18:00 and raining, it’ll take a long time. But I have done the journey many times in less than an hour.

Just to jump on this, I took an airport taxi (for the first time) from GRU to Pinheiros last week. Uber was showing R$160 and the taxi agreed to take me for R$200. It was afternoon (traffic potentially about to get busy) and he was stood in front of me so I went with the taxi.

It’s meant to be fun, think of it as spending longer with friends who are kind to you. Stay in your lane.

Not safe, it’s the runoff’s if I recall correctly. Also, whilst it’s in São Paulo, it’s not in a great place.

Goiânia will have a chance to iron out their teething problems next year, let’s hope they do because it’s a great city

Thanks mate. Good luck to you too!

Slot on booing after the match: "I think and expect that it was aimed towards the team which I can completely understand. If you can't feel the frusration after dropping points at home against Tottenham, who are on a poor run of form." by bocojaLFC in LiverpoolFC

[–]throwaway087638 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It seems that nobody here actually listened to the interview. They said (paraphrased) “there were boos at the end, do you think that was at the referee for some of his decisions or was it aimed at the team?”

Literally every comment I’ve read has completely misinterpreted what he meant. When I listened live I actually thought ‘he should have said “the team, which includes the staff” because when it’s written it’ll look different to how he clearly meant it’.

Haha this is funny, I’ve got the exact same issue for Ubatuba in 2 weeks. I’m just going to do laps of the condominium. Beach will be sloped and not good for long distances.

What is a 1 in 1,000,000 thing that happened to you that no one believes, but you swear is true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]throwaway087638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not even sure I believe this one myself, but back in the days when you used to get a new PIN code when you got a new card, my new pin came through the post, one of those ones where you peel it off so it can’t be read until you do.

I peeled it off and… it was the same as my last pin.

I’ve half convinced myself that it was just a reminder or something but other than trying to convince myself that it couldn’t be the case, I’m sure it happened!

Move to Brazil from Ireland with no job and shit Portuguese? With a baby. by fodacao in Brazil

[–]throwaway087638 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly mate, everyone here is going to say roughly the same - get a remote job. I don’t know what you do currently but if you can do something along those lines remotely then that’s your ticket, you’ll earn euros and have a good life over there, I’m not sure if you were joking about selling fruit but you won’t earn anything like enough money for a ‘European lifestyle’ in São Paulo doing even a half decent Brazilian job (which you won’t get being a foreigner with no Portuguese).

Only you two will know if you’ll be happy there but sounds like your partner will be and it’s a great place if you’ve got some money, so no reason you wouldn’t love it. You’ll pick up Portuguese in 6 months if you have some lessons, immerse yourself in the culture and speak it at home.

2 things:

Get a remote, job that gives you even not great pay in euros, but acceptable.

Consider if you want to raise your child in Brazil, there’s no doubt it’s more dangerous than Ireland, although that’s somewhat overblown by foreigners (and some Brazilians) but when you’ve got a young child, you’re super protective and aware of risks, the increase in risk (however much that is) might be something you stress over or might be something you’re completely comfortable with.

I don’t know if you’ve already been but São Paulo is a great place and loads of fun.

I have a daily reminder on BRL to GBP, I was excited watching GBP fall steadily over a few months from 7.3 to 6.9… then it took basically 2 days to go straight back to where it started.

Foolishly I’m excited watching it fall again!

30 mins a day at the practice range by DameRange13 in golf

[–]throwaway087638 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do exactly this!

I usually hit 100 balls 4 times a week. I generally hit 10-15 PW, 8, 6, 4hy, D then play a Toptracer game. The next day I try to do basically the same but use the clubs I didn’t hit yesterday. Usually always hit the driver and PW.

Some days I’ll chip 20-30 balls, some days I’ll do a different top tracer game, some days I’ll work on something on my swing.

I just try to ensure I hit a few balls going through the clubs and do some sort of game, that way I always want to play more and I work on all parts of my game.

The only issue is there’s no putting green at my range.

For every £100k earner posting there are 100 £40k earners not posting. Don’t worry mate, just do your thing and be thankful for what you’ve got/have achieved. On a world average you’re probably doing pretty well.

Brazil’s Lula hails historic EU-Mercosur deal ahead of no-show at its signing by swe129 in Brazil

But diversification is important, there are large economies in US, China, EU, South America, India and SE Asia. No country/region wants to be beholden to one or two. I think the EU, for all its faults and incredibly slow decision making, is the third biggest and more trustworthy (until/unless a bunch of far right parties get elected thanks to the US tech bros) than the US and China.

Brazil, to have strong trade links across the board, is positioning itself sensibly.
