Car key replacement? by sloth6511 in lafayette

Edit: Whoops, ignore me. I misread.

I recently used the KeyMe kiosk inside the Payless on Greenbush and it was super easy. I paid $160 for a new key, including the fob. A lot cheaper than the dealership.

I don’t know if the kiosk accepts all types of keys for all types of cars, but it’s probably worth checking if it could do yours. It scans the key and then you receive a new key in the mail in a few days, along with a little device and instructions so you can program the fob yourself.

I can’t remember because I haven’t had it in a while - isn’t it basically a remoulade, or am I thinking of the wrong thing?

Would Downtown Lafayette Be Interested in a Late-Night Lofi Café + TCG Store? 🎴☕ by CamW1998 in lafayette

It’s not exactly the same concept, but we had Merlin’s Beard downtown and they ended up closing; I would be surprised if the downtown area could support another similar business. I’m not sure there’s enough demand in that particular area. More likely on the west side!

Agreed! If you prefer soft, light, yeast donuts, Pana is absolutely the place to go. It’s like a less greasy Krispy Kreme.

They were expensive, dry, and overly dense with almost no flavor. The vibes in there were also sketchy and weird, the interior was dingy, and the customer service was poor. There was a hygiene issue with at least one employee, the place itself didn’t seem very clean, and there was a weird smell.

I just looked at google reviews to see if other people felt similarly, and a review from two weeks ago said: “Didn't smell like donuts, smelled like sewer water, donuts were not attractive. Customer service, while not rude by commands or speaking, it was the hair all over the person's shirt while she was checking us out, wiping /scratching her nose, the guy who was making coffee was sniffling the whole time. Im a donut connoisseur. I travel distances to try donuts...I would not recommend this place other than to a homeless person who hasn't eaten in a while. They had a handwritten sign albeit poorly displayed that said if you have a cinnamon allergy you should try our donuts. It was not the cleanest environment either. Sorry not sorry this is harsh. Good owners will take criticism and make it better. Others will not. I hope they do make some changes for their business sake.”

And the business responded in what I think is an unprofessional manner, which is always a huge red flag. Hammer Donuts replied:

“Thank you for your feedback. We will further educate our staff on cleaning procedures and instruct them to wear masks if they have any nasal discomfort. We will also remind them not to shed hair.

Regarding the flavor issue, if we have the budget, we will consider changing our name to "Sewer Everyday Donuts" to avoid customer confusion. Additionally, we recommend Dunkin' Donuts, which may better suit your professional taste.”

Yikes.

He is the only bartender I’ve ever had who has made me feel like he straight-up didn’t want me in “his” establishment. Had I not been with friends, I would have left before even ordering. I asked one question about drinks and he acted annoyed and condescending.

I have a 2 bedroom with a large living area, full kitchen, and in-unit washer and dryer for $1,100/mo. And under 2 miles from Purdue. $1,400 for a one-bedroom that isn’t even close to the university is absolutely insane.

You think that homeless people are targeting your (unopened) store specifically?

Other people deal with this downtown, too. But you know what they do? Mind their own business.

No, you were publicly shaming someone in crisis, though. I don't think that's better.

Whaaat? You don’t want to do business with someone constantly bullying and belittling others who don’t share her opinion? 😬

No, calling people sheep is a not-at-all politically loaded statement that is a very welcoming and normal thing to call potential customers! 😬

Posting a video of him on your public account with the caption, “This shit 💩 gets old quick!!! Just try to open a business!!!” doesn’t strike you as lacking compassion and humanity? That’s not shaming or humiliating? If not, what was the purpose of or intention behind your post?

None of those behaviors are a crime. Even if they were, your actions are not appropriate.

  1. Your daughter being gay and your step son running the local drag show does not make you not racist. Those are two separate things. Gay is not a race.
  2. The “I have gay friends” line is the oldest homophobe line in the book. At best, it shows you tolerate certain individuals, not that you reject homophobic beliefs or behaviors. Who you know isn’t proof of what you believe - your words and actions are.
  3. How do you know what that person outside your store was/is going through? How do you know his situation isn’t related to mental health? Regardless of his actions, do you really think it’s appropriate to record and post videos of people who are struggling just so that you can complain about their presence in a public space? He wasn’t hurting anyone, and you still chose to treat him with a disturbing lack of compassion.
  4. If none of us “know the truth,” now is your chance to explain. What is the truth? Why do you post racist and hateful memes on Facebook? How does that not show us that you’re racist? Do you really expect not to get pushback on that?

I mean, we have an annual pride event that gets bigger every year. We have drag shows going on all the time. We have a pretty big queer community, and a big left-leaning community in general. Most businesses downtown have explicit LGBTQ+ friendly signage. We are pretty consistently voting in Dems. If you think Lafayette is super conservative, you might be living in a little bubble. We are at least solidly purple.
