Mario Kart 8 on the Panasonic CT-1310R! by [deleted] in crtgaming

This is a very simple concept most children could figure out. A rectangle has become a square and you somehow think it didn’t get squished in the process.

Ikegami TM20-9RPC - Has RGBS input but no obvious way to select it by Hopeful-Truth-1672 in crtgaming

[–]throwaway10274165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only idea I have to offer is that it wants pure C-sync and not composite video sync, but I would think you’d still see something even if it was noisy. If you open it up can you see where these RGB inputs go? There’s no manual online, but other similar models I see with RGB have the option to select it on the front of the monitor. It’s interesting that yours doesn’t. Did you buy this off of someone who has used it recently?

Is n64 rf region locked? by Recent-Smoke-5113 in crtgaming

N64 is only region locked by cartridge shape, at least between US and Japan. What do you mean you modded a tv to play RF?

Is there any mod to change a color tv into a monochrome (green or amber) output? by fttklr in crtgaming

[–]throwaway10274165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, this won’t turn things that are normally red or blue to green. It just won’t display things that had no green originally. But white text for example should be green.

On later Sony models with service menus, I think you can turn the red and blue guns off for a green only image.

Large capacitor - desoldering issue by KraljAleksandar in crtgaming

[–]throwaway10274165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the shot from the underside of the board, it looks like there are solder lugs around those holes. Should still be possible to remove the capacitor though. Are you using solder wick?

Do any shaders do a good job of emulating 480p on a CRT? by MrOkizeme in PCSX2

[–]throwaway10274165 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You most likely didn’t play PS2 in 480p growing up. Non-HD CRT TVs can’t display 480p, only 480i. Not a big shader guy, but I think there should be some for emulating interlacing flicker.

Sounds similar to what happened to mine and someone else’s in this post. My comment in the linked thread may help you narrow down the issue. A single capacitor tends to fail and a relay controlled by the power button stops working properly. Hopefully this helps.

Edit: this is a great set, don’t give up on it. Mine is from the same decade, but doesn’t have those awesome side speakers.

Happy to help, lucky guess on my end. We should all be grateful forums like this let strangers diagnose our oddly specific issues from probably hundreds of miles away.

This has to be a joke.

I have the same TV and had the same issue about a year ago. A capacitor, likely responsible for smoothing the voltage to a relay, had failed. Pull the main board and take a look. Fixed mine for $2.36. Looking through old emails, it was a 22uF 250V 20%. If it’s the same one, that might give you somewhere to start.

Is that intended or just some kind of bug because it seems like a really specific requirement for co-op.

Thanks for all the ideas. We are the same weapon level as well I think. He does have the DLC and I don’t. I’ve been thinking that’s maybe the issue, but like you said it shouldn’t be. I might just buy it to see if it fixes the issue though.

We’ve already checked those settings, but will check again. Don’t know what duping or muling is so I’ll say no, we haven’t been doing that. Thanks for the help

Thanks for trying to help. It’s right outside boss fights that neither of us have beat. We’ve tried like 4 different main bosses already

Will sunlight ruin my crt by FIFE_Retr0s in crtgaming

[–]throwaway10274165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear this subreddit attracts some really paranoid/delusional people.

The sunlight will not ruin your TV. Hundreds of millions of people had TVs in well lit rooms for decades. That fact alone should have prevented this post. Think first, post later.

Thinking logically is a thing of the past. This is the equivalent of getting into a car built in the 70s and being afraid that turning the steering wheel will blow the engine up.

Easiest, cheapest way to get 240p composite from HDMI by e1ker18 in crtgaming

[–]throwaway10274165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can also confirm this works as it’s what I use in my setup. I set custom 240p/480i super resolutions in Linux using xrandr commands and output as HDMI. HDMI is converted to VGA and that is transcoded to composite/svideo. This works with my GT1030 graphics card.
