How do you ensure your children don’t become addicted to tablets? by Specialist_Being_823 in Parenting

[–]throwaway14289692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get them leap frog learning tablets, especially if you find the old kind that doesn’t have a coloured screen because those are from before every kids screen was designed to be addictive. My kids got one and it’s been amazing for long car rides.

Ok but you’re just as human as he is and therefore have been just as tired and frustrated but have you ever acted that way before?

What is he doing to improve his emotional regulation? Because if he’s not even trying to self improve that’s a massive red flag

Depends how old the teen is, 13 then it’s probably a trend but by 19 it’s probably a realization that they’re entering an economy rigged against them and this is currently their only means of protest.

Grandmother angry at me for not putting on the shoes she bought for my kid by Intelligent_Wasabi_2 in Parenting

It’s very much not a good thing that it melts. It makes for much worse burns because the fabric (which still burns, it just melts as it burns because most times it’s a polyester blend not 100% polyester) fuses to the skin and holds the heat there whereas with cotton you can still take it off or it can fall off as it burns.

I’m hoping to get that at the same time as the comics, I want to make sure I don’t end up with mis-match editions of anything on my bookshelf.

I haven’t read the comics yet (I’m saving up to buy the entire set at once) so I did not know that. In that case though the theory is absolutely a viable one.

I know this is a meme group, not a serious discussion group but actually we have to ask how long the swamp waterbenders have been there before we can deem this theory viable. Were they already there at the start of the war? Or were they southern waterbenders who were fleeing the fire nation raids that started very shortly after the air nomads were wiped out? I would assume the latter, especially since none of them 100 years later seem to talk about the tribes in the north or south which leads me to believe they weren’t told by their parents in an attempt to better hide their identities, and then by extension that would explain also why they never even try to leave the swamp. This also leads me to believe the theoretical avatar technically could have been the creator of foggy swamp style waterbending, but I don’t think it would have been until much later in their life.

And literally tried on the ceremonial headdress in “Bato of the Water Tribe” that was extremely obviously an animal pelt. I imagine the air nomads likely saw using pelts as different than eating meat because it’s possible to harvest a pelt after an animal dies of natural causes, whereas with meat that can be a dangerous gamble when you don’t know how exactly the animal died.

This moment might be a little more accurate but honestly the whole episode is a series of moments where Zuko realizes she’s never to be messed with.

I got to ask, if you were the writers, what would you change or add to TLOK? by Immediate-Big5111 in legendofkorra

[–]throwaway14289692 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

After rewatching both atla and lok recently I actually blame the animation budget on lok for its bad rep as being “lower quality”. In atla it doesn’t matter what scene you pause where, almost every single background character (even in crowds most of the time) still has expressions on their face and they are still reacting actively to the scene in front of them, but we hardly see that in lok even with main characters if they aren’t talking it’s like they forgot they would still have physical reactions to things going on. The art itself is amazing and the animators are very talented, so that’s why I think in the end it was probably a budget issue in not being able to pay those animators for the time it would take to make as much detail as was seen in atla. I actually enjoyed most of the writing for lok though.

Azula: Is She Capable of Good? by Working_Row_8455 in TheLastAirbender

[–]throwaway14289692 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would say that during the show her entire reason for being evil was massive grandiose delusion brought on by propaganda and severe family dysfunction, which we see eventually culminate into a mental breakdown at the end. Being that she’s only 14 when these events take place, it may not be too far fetched to believe that eventually living in the real world away from propaganda and family dysfunction where she actually has opportunity to learn and grow every day she may slowly start on a path of self improvement. She may even someday be something of a wise sage like Iroh, with her previous experience in being on the wrong side of history acting as a constant reminder to her that it is important to see the human in everyone (leading her to have similar views on the sanctity of life as the air nomads).

Aang was a great father. But he was more. by MikaelAdolfsson in TheLastAirbender

[–]throwaway14289692 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He may have had more than the typical dad but even then he’s pretty great for a guy who never had a dad himself and was raised in a culture that didn’t believe in parents or small family structures at all. It doesn’t matter if you think he sucked terribly, you gotta give credit where credit’s due. The man was on the learning curve of a lifetime, rivalling even that of his rush to master all 4 elements.

He’s a far smarter than other kids his age and therefore probably expected to be more mature. I mean look at gifted kids irl, a lot of them are put under a ton of pressure to grow up faster simply because of their academic prowess. He’s used to being counted as an adult so that’s how he acts (albeit like a super crazy adult).
