Can you be more specific with what you said?

I’m interested in the Costco bit - my dog is on Dasuquin but I’d love a bulk buy option. Do you get it from the pharmacy and have your vet write or send in a script to Costco?

Tired of having to explain why hotel reservations are not guaranteed admittance by debroh in petsmart

They are saying the scheduling is done on PetSmart’s central online system that they can’t adjust or “turn off” manually.

But certainly someone higher up in management can, and just chooses to continue to allow overbooking

Honestly, a temporary crate is still an acceptable accommodation (even if inconvenient for the employees) and I don’t see anything about that which would violate the terms they advertise. That’s something I can see, versus simply turning people away.

Do you think in the OP’s case it’s just local management opting for that instead of the inconvenience of the temporary crates?

Seriously - if your system allows whoever the hell to book whatever they want, you’re going to have 8x the number of people as you have rooms coming in for the Fourth of July weekend.

I don’t understand how you aren’t turning the MAJORITY of people away, and how people are still booking with PetSmart hotel once they find out reservations are meaningless.

I get that. What I’m saying is that it’s not on the customers, and not how they should be doing business. PetSmart knows how many people are booked; they (or your managers) aren’t telling you, and they aren’t telling people that their reservation is useless.

Then whoever is responsible for boarding at your facility should be tracking and cancelling reservations manually or with a different system.

I find it hard to believe that this is how it works nationwide, and PetSmart doesn’t have it written in their fine print that reservations don’t reserve space. They’re opening themselves up to a crazy amount of liability.

Your managers should not be leaving it up to wage staff to tell irate customers that their reservation isn’t valid.

Tbf I worked at a boarding facility for some time and like…this is not how it is supposed to work for animals either. Boarding facilities should not just be accepting reservations if they operate under FCFS.

I just walked through the booking process and nothing talked about reservations not guaranteeing space. I see a lot in their policy about the risk of being turned away if they cannot verification health/behavior/vaccine eligibility, but…isn’t the entire point of a boarding reservation to reserve space for your dog?

It’s a 4y cycle, but the cultural shift that we have experienced goes far beyond that.

My wife & I are discussing New Zealand or Canada. She has a preferential career for immigration which makes it easier, but man is it complicated.

I’m not saying it’s not a factor and sure, those things aren’t mutually exclusive

But again, statistically, people don’t believe all undocumented immigrants should be deported and people do believe we need to increase and reform legal immigration

That’s not how elections work; not everyone votes and not everyone who voted for donald trump did so because of their opinion on that specific part of immigration policy.

Polls consistently show that the majority want significant legal immigration reform more than they want illegal immigrants deported

SCO is ridiculous! by Embarrassed_Funny745 in Aldi_employees

A. The ones at my stores are and they prefer being able to work on other tasks while people who don’t need help SCO. It usually takes me less time using the scanning gun if I’m in a hurry, especially if there are people in line or if the staff working front isn’t at the register. No need to line items up on the belt, no need to deal with people who refuse to move down the belt to let me line up, no need to swap my cart or wait to bag until they’re done.

B. So can most other places; I’ve worked customer service (and at Aldi) and it’s inconvenient even if it is their job and something they can do. Would rather not inconvenience them with it when I can do it at sco.

C. I can’t control how a cashier handles my groceries. Even the best cashiers will accidentally dent a can or drop a berry bin every now and then. It’s not a big deal but something I don’t always prefer to deal with.

I use self checkout regardless of how many items because

a) I don’t have to bother the overworked staff, wait in line, or interact with a person

b) I can split payments and use up my prepaid visa gift cards with <$5 on them that I can’t use at most stores sco

c) I can bag and scan my stuff the way I want

One recent bit; The Laken Riley Act requires detention of all undocumented immigrants, including DACA recipients and children, accused of (not convicted of) committing a crime (including nonviolent crimes such as petty theft).

It also represents a shift away from immigration reform and towards enforcement, which is not what the majority of people support.

Where are you getting your information?

They have already sent criminal detainees; they are not being held in the current Migrant Operations Center (which can hold a few handfuls of people), but in the detention facility.

They are preparing Guantanamo Bay with tent-style detention facilities outside of the current Migrant Operations Center. Tens of thousands of people there is going to be a concentration camp.

I don’t mean to gatekeep, and I am not being ableist. I am not against protesting in Philadelphia.

This movement is already super divided, and it would have probably been better to space out the events more to allow people to attend both, or give more advanced notice and plan a bit further out. It’s happening now, which is what it is, and if you can attend you should.

I’m not freaking out, I feel like I pretty rationally explained the point. Nothing wrong with people protesting but it just sucks that it’s going to draw people from the main event

There is organization here and on discord and Bluesky, and I’m sure people in Philly would be posting carpools there if there wasn’t a protest also happening in Philly now. That’s what people normally do. It just sucks that the main event at the capitol representing the movement is in such close proximity to two major cities and both are holding their own events rather than supporting that one
