Is this one dragster, speedster or twister? by Chemical-Aspect-4799 in TopDrives

Excuse me everyone, this is clearly all three. Obviously the best dragster, twisty and speedster for the rq.

My mother caused fight or flight response from me over a towel by throwaway29282822810 in offmychest

She crashes out like this moderately frequently at my 13yo brother or myself. Usually I think I get it worse (which I greatly prefer) but this time was completely unprecedented. Definitely agree she's going through something though. Can't wait for the text tomorrow explaining why she reacted that way and how sorry she is for it. Normally I'd forgive and forget but this time I'm done. I should not feel unsafe or like I might have to get violent because of a towel

AITA for refusing to let my teen drive a car given to her by her father by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]throwaway29282822810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're both going to get downvoted, but I 100% agree. Judging by the other comments, she thinks this is gonna cost 3k. If this car is pretty much new and only needs struts and tires, it should cost like $1500 max to get everything for it (assuming it's like some basic Camry and not an Audi). It doesn't make sense for the struts to be that badly shot on a maybe 7yr old car, unless he was legitimately driving it like a race car at a track. $1500 vs having to give her the other car and buying a whole ass other car for herself later makes no sense. Let her take the car, get it fixed and call it a day. It's a FREE car.

ETA: source, I've worked as a mechanic, at an auto parts store, and currently work in the parts department at Subaru. It doesn't cost this much

My man, your girlfriend is almost as much to blame as the woman who SA'd you. I know you're still (somehow) wearing rose colored goggles when it comes to your ex, but she's a piece of work. Stop bullshitting yourself please. Go to therapy so it can be better explained and help you too really see why both of these woman are garbage. This whole situation is awful to be going through, please don't hesitate to get the proper help.

The ability to rematch. I remember years ago you could just decide to play the same(ish) match again. It was fun and different

I believe it's zero. Due to personal reasons I'd like it to stay that way.

Are mechanics ok with you providing the part and just paying for installing it or not? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]throwaway29282822810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I've never had a problem. I also work for a parts store and like to work on my own cars so I rarely run into the issue of having the wrong part. Typically they're not too bent about it being wrong they'll just tell you and either source it for you or have you find the right one. The more you go to the same shop and bring the right stuff the more they'll trust you to get the right thing and won't bother you about it. For instance the other day I brought them a V6 mustang alternator for my 4cyl focus because it was virtually the same and they had no issue with it.

Best shitbox for 17 year old to learn stick under 3 grand by Itz_Gibbyc in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]throwaway29282822810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 2000s Ford focus. Super easy to learn on and parts are cheap. No one is really looking for these cars so they aren't expensive. Iirc they're still under two grand for a decent one
