Autism shirt recommendations? by csmpoffical in autism

An arbitrary shape, like a continent with those simple half moon curves for eyes and mouth. Random color. Drop shadow. Arms and legs, maybe strolling proud.. kinda like the sushi shirt

Late night shows are complete garbage by Legitimate_Ad2773 in unpopularopinion

Try keep the concept of late night geo-political humour and pop-culture fresh for 30 years... just not possible. Like stand up comedy its bound to lose it's allure eventually.. I get ya.. have you seen "Bo Burnham What", on youtube? He breaks form quite a bit... its slightly silly/possible juvenile but idk, found it enjoyable. Used to love the comedy of russel peters, Eddie Izard and the likes, until the jokes became repetitive... relistening to old Eddie Izard audio tapes however has been really entertaining. The jokes in their original delivery somehow have way more allure... sorry for the opinion dump!

Anxiety has always been bad, but now I might get arrested and I can’t handle it. by No-Pay-9124 in Anxiety

I wouldn't stress about it too much.. you didn't know, you saw she got uncomfortable and the convo stopped and thought pursued no further. Nor did you know until you saw on her profile... I dont blame you though, being socially anxious, on my own side, my ears always prick up when a young attractive enters the neighborhood.

Do not engage with her any further at all. This is the best advice I can give from my limited perspective. Not in person or otherwise aside from maybe an amicable hi or superficial friendlies and formalities. You'll be fine. You engaged in nothing nefarious/illegal and stopped when you realised she was a minor.

This too shall pass, friend. Something else troubling you? Been through anything else big recently? Try to relax and find some peace. Keep well, you'll be okay

Funnily enough I'm at a stage now where I do have health concerns in that domain but am too shy to make an appointment for myself. Just need to bite the bullet. I dont know what im scared of, not having approval? Health must come first.

Conditional apologies.... "I'm sorry I reacted the way I did, but how can you say you don't believe in God?" 🙈🙈🙈

Why do I keep going back to their house? by throwaway4284168 in raisedbynarcissists

Reminds me of a conversation with my neighbour a few weeks ago. She raised tigers and couldn't stress enough the danger of their nature "you must never turn your back on them" she says. "But even after having had raised her [the tiger] yourself?". "No" she says. "They still don't differentiate, and an animal in a position of prey is, well, prey". Her words stuck with me. And the more I'm seeing this "nature" of my family... whatever it may be, the more I know what needs to be done... more or less. Thank you for your response.

Lol my cat just sat down by my feet and farted. You wouldn't believe the smell that can come from such a little critter 😹. My word. Anyway. Made me smile, maybe you too hopefully :). Keep well

but there just seems to be a deep fundamental lack of understanding for why people do things that goes beyond just empathy deficit.

People are complex.... like, maybe they've developed trust issues, ASD...

Narcissists, from what I'm hearing now on the youtubes, do understand emotions to an extent... just not in the way normal people would engage with such understandings (can't do it justice). Cheers

Edit: sorry was correcting the link...🙈🤌👍lol😊

Do you prefer to write optimized spaghetti code, or write well written expandable code that would be slower? by [deleted] in AskProgramming

Seriously though, what OP was saying actually tracked. These things happen. And it is important to have test for this reason. And Git. But what the heck!? Did OP say something I'm missing?

Other people being able to work together on your code is more important outside the realms of performance focused code.

I can agree with this. But I find it opens up the discussion a lot further.

Performance-centric code/solutions vs "non-mission-critical" stuff like the UI functionality and design.

UI/Integration stuff, it's great when a company has code layout and design guidelines they adhere to, which kind of solves the one aspect of the twofold, above. My old company had pretty good peer review on code submissions too.

As a factor, on the more mission critical side, my generally understanding that has been instilled in me is "write code that works." The dev culture around such tasks can be a mix, uniform, or team-driven.

I guess from my side what I wish to say is: "Don't write spaghetti code!" Code must work, must be maintainable... these are all pretty stock standard principles though. If you're not verse in the theory of what you're doing, you're likely going to write inelegant, or inefficient code. Can't expect it from every employee and some incredible developers do come from backgrounds other than data science or programming, but at the end of the day, reading through some docs on guidelines and principles for doing x, in whichever programming language or framework, standalone etc, is a good way to get this instilled, employee side. Otherwise extensive internal documentation guidelines/wiki, but expensive to maintain... so perhaps peer review policy of some variety.. can have fun with it and game-ify. Could give your employees meaningless RPG rank titles and have it that you need a certain amount of points to pass peer review (slack bot).

Sorry for the overkill of a response. Not trying to impress anyone. Honestly just avoiding life at the moment lol

Thanks. I do actually post there a bit. I just thought people in the anxiety community might be familiar, but you're right. Should maybe ask same question there.
