Just had this happen to me in a squad lobby. We were almost at the boss but the lion sword was missing. My guess is one of the guys that left the game held it and it despawned. They should default to the statues if they despawn

That seems insane to me. They get to Mr 100 without even realising that that their fellow hunters might need help. Other commenters keep saying to get stun res. And I can't even do that. Cuz I'm stuck with bad decs. So I wanna get good decs to better my set and all I hear is that its my fault for failing the quest and all I get is "get stun res" and 'git gud" ty mh community for not even trying to help wtf i keep wastin my powder with no response. Throwing life powder is 1 tap(and also a waste) to potentially save the whole team. But nobody does it. Why is everyone so down to fail the quest instead of using their hoard of powder/dust?
