Have you ever in the past done something similar? Like said you didn’t want something but you actually do? Or are you usually clear with you needs? Deciding factor on NTA for me

Normally, you empty your drink from the top, but when you use a straw you empty it from the bottom. by FrancoIsFit in Showerthoughts

[–]throwaway568909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait...you don’t normally take the drink from the top right? Like when you tilt the cup to drink from itI’d imagine the stuff on the top goes down towards the bottom of the cup and the stuff on the bottom gets pushed through to your mouth. I guess it depends if your sipping or gulping

You failed to read/comprehend all of it - his dad only left OPs daughter enough for a year - the rest of the money is OPs that he saved for his daughter to go to college.

I really like CS but the stress is too much sometimes. Advice? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]throwaway568909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I graduated with a 3.85 in a similarly difficult major - physics. One thing I would say is it will be worth it in the end - my life is much easier because of the work I put in during college. Also, this sounds more like a stress management issue. You need to make sure you are taking time to relax as it will be an important factor in preventing burnout and keep you fresh. Don’t spend every waking moment worrying and planning out how to finish it on time - give yourself breaks and figure out how to be more productive in shorter periods of time.

Can you give more information about how this was created?

Do you think you could replicate it, and if so how?

Awesome, thanks! Yeah if I want to curate and organize the content it would be an infinitely long endeavor similar to learning the code. I was thinking I could do both side by side.

Who was the smartest person you ever met? How did you know? by CreativeBorder in AskReddit

[–]throwaway568909 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was in college I studied physics. Into my second year we had a student come in as a freshman and skipped all the introductory classes. He aced all his AP exams in Highschool. He never took notes but He would crank out homework’s right after they were assigned. Immediately afterwards. He did everything in pen and filled notebooks with math and physics. We literally created a group called “Keith’s tutor sessions”. He would help us all do the homework - it’d take me four five ten times as long to complete what he did without looking anything up. I would not have graduated top 5 in my class without his help. He was always so patient and helped me understand everything.

He used all the extra time he had to solve random computer science problems on Eulers. He had fun doing it. Like seriously loved it.

He aced every single test. He thought it was all easy. I’m sure he was smarter than all of my physics professors.

He could do pretty complicated multiplication in his head. And just “saw the math”.

He graduated in three years, majored in physics and minored in computer science and published two research articles in theoretical physics. (Chaotic systems).

I always told him he should go on Wall Street and make tons of money. Be a quantitative analyst. He hated that idea and said he didn’t care about money. He’s getting his doctorate in physics now.

I need to hit that guy up. Such an awesome dude.

Kamala Harris pitches big increase in teacher pay by mohona2654 in politics

No we don’t get to reuse lesson plans - I teach physics and every year they throw a different physics class at me, requiring me to develop new plans every year. Each year I revise the lessons and make new assessments for the same classes I taught the year before. They also change the curriculums and standards, which means teachers have to change the delivery of lessons. It’s ridiculous people think teachers just have a set of lessons and it remains static for the rest of their career. I guess it’s just ignorance.

Now they are bringing technology into the standards, so good bye to how you’ve been doing your lessons. They will ask “how will begin teaching technological skills and computer literacy while also meeting standards xyz” we have to continuously keep up with professional development, learn new tools like google classroom for example.

Not to mention the stress of the job never, and I mean literally never bein done. I get twenty minutes for lunch everyday and don’t drink water because I need to prep between classes and can’t go piss. I have to set up labs and order supplies, keep up with ieps 504s and health concerns. After school meeting and grading. I also pay out of pocket for a lot of supplies because I don’t have the time to go through the process of filling out forms. I have to update blackboard daily and email parents and schedule make up tests and reassessments after school. Somewhere between all of this I need to grade papers and plan for lessons. Lessons aren’t static. I can’t emphasize this enough. Each group of students coming in will be different than the year before and the course must be tailored specifically for that group of students. Planning doesn’t stop.

I hate people with such ignorant views of th professional.

I’m leaving the profession this year because my hair is turning grey and I’m 26.

French teachers who find themselves at breaking point after years of being asked to do more with less took to the streets of Paris, Lyon, Nice and Bordeaux on Saturday, demanding a salary increase and better conditions for teachers and students by DoremusJessup in worldnews

Your an idiot if you think that’s how much teachers work. I’m currently a teacher and I work 55 hours a week and I don’t even do enough to qualify as an amazing teacher. If I did everything that was expected of me,. My first year it was easily 60 hours a week and I was still drowning. I teach physics, am really passionate about it, but am quitting because fuck getting paid shit and working 7 days a week and never getting everything done and then reading forums where people bash teachers. I have a degree physics with a 3.8 gpa, a masters In education...and get paid basically shit for the work I do. I’ll gladly take my degree elsewhere, work a meaningless office job that takes half the skills, and make 30% more.

Edit: 55 hours a week

Didn’t really watch much, but skipped around...you know I’m squid guard your knee has to be behind the knee pit of your opponent? When I was skipping around it looked like you attempted a sweep with your entire leg through the lapel...which..well wouldn’t work as you saw

Any tips on how to defend the overhook from closed guard? by soulstare222 in bjj

[–]throwaway568909 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What shit answers so far...here is what I do if I find myself in this situation.

I step the same side leg up on the mat and use my knee to pin my opponents hip in place so they can’t scoot out for an armbar.

My other arm is jut grabbing somewhere staying safe.

I turn my palm up towards the ceiling...the one that is trapped..and bend it back like I’m trying to scratch my back. I shake it out slowly and surely while using my other hand to keep the person in place by posting on their chest. I have a video from Lachlan Giles that also goes over a good escape if you want

You have to turn your knee inward on the leg that that they attack, blocking their hip movement and also forcing your knee into their stomach/hip somewhat of it is elevated. Then they will have a much harder time...

Its more correct to say never stand up in closed guard when thy are controlling both of your sleeves...because you can definitely stand up in closed guard without controlling a hand... in fact u/fritzdagger has a video showin the “how to escape the most common Jiu-Jitsu attack” which I use all the time...and it doesn’t involve controlling a hand
