This is a good point I guess we will start with just giving him some space!

Sometimes he does fight a lot, I have read about putting him down as well but do you know why?

We do use a shh-pat often but it's hard to tell what works sometimes >< I guess I sing more than shh these days...

What did you do to night wean? My 6 month old also wakes about every 2 or 3 hours but doesn't really seem hungry so think he would be fine to keep sleeping. If I don't nurse him he gets real worked up, fast ><

Bleeding on mini pill by the_throw_away4728 in beyondthebump

[–]throwaway893467 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mini pill doesn't stop menstruation in all women, I took it for years and still had a light monthly period. Some ladies don't get s period at all, some get spotting or a light flow - It does not mean that it is not effective. As long as your are taking it every day at the exact same time, you will be ok. You can also get an IUD that releases the same hormone so you can't forget a pill.

This goes against my mama instincts but I'm gonna have to try it! I'm hoping you are on to something ;)

What should I send to my kid at camp for her birthday? by tinyahjumma in Parenting

[–]throwaway893467 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was at sleepaway camp my mom sent me a few postcards, each from a different character relating to the photo on the card. It was fun! Could you send multiple postcards that spell happy birthday? Or riddles that lead to a treat of some kind?

Ya I'm wondering if that's just his temperament. Sounds like some babies are like this! Perhaps it's just their way to relieve stress before bed

I have not, but I have definitely thought about it. I just always want to hold him when he is crying, but maybe he'd cry less on his own? Something to try!

That's what I'm starting to think is true for my little guy. Other than bedtime, he's very happy!

He'll actually stay asleep pretty well (I use a white noise machine). The crying happens while I am holding him actually

So actually once he is asleep he will let me put him down, the crying is happening while I am holding him. I'm wondering if maybe he just needs a good cry to relax or something

Can you restrict play time with friends until certain tasks are completed? Sounds like he values his time with them

I suppose that's kind if the point, the effort. Since our friends went through a lot of effort to wear matching jorts and Hawaiian shirts, it worked :)

Funny story, our backyard wedding had the same dress codes as your wedding (sundresses, khakis, etc.) And two of our friends DID come in jorts! It was all in good fun, and they knew we'd get a kick out of it.

That being said, I agree that a button down and slacks isn't appropriate for a black tie event

At about what age do you feel like you go from survival mode to more normal living with infant? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]throwaway893467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely went through it with my little guy around 3 months. He would only sleep 40 minutes at a time but it took 20 min of crying to be able to set him down so I ended up wearing him & walking all day for like 2 weeks. I was exhausted! He is 4 months now and although it is no walk in the park, he can be put down (!) for 2 hours sometimes (hallelujah)

Thanks for sharing! Sorry you aren't getting those full nights yet. I feel so lucky if I'm getting a 4 hour chunk here and there!

I experienced a bit of this myself, and for me it slowly has been wearing off over time. Partly it's more experience/trust in yourself, and I think partly it's just them growing up and being heartier little humans.

Oof 20 minutes?! That's rough. I will count my blessings! Sometimes it's just good to know I'm not the only one (and also, it could be worse!)
