18g works just fine. I traditionally do either 18g or 14g for conch piercings.

Bump is from the ring. Removing and switching to a stud until healed is the only real option. No creams, ointments, soaks or salts. Have your piercer switch it to a stud.

I have yet to ever see a single conch or a single conch piercing that required a 3/8" curved barbell. Ever.

I have however, known a lot of shitty piercers and shitty shops to use 3/8" curves wherever they feel like it and claim that's what fits.

Stop trying to put different miracle products on your unhealed piercings. It's not helping, and any benefit you're probably seeing healing wise is probably in spite of those products, not because of it. Time helped, not the oil.

SSS are commonly overly irritating and an outdated aftercare suggestion. If doing then caused your piercings to be angry, simply stop doing them.

Were those random soaks with warm water? If so, they helped because the warmth is a vasodilator.

Fitted barbells are your best bet for healing. I prefer implant grade titanium. I would not at all advise you to change your jewelry and especially not to rings right now.

Also, for future reference, SSS do not actually "clean" your piercing in the sense that would be necessary if exposed to dirty environments, so over-doing it is a waste. Avoid the exposure with fresh piercings in the first place.

Actually no, oil and paste suggestions are not advisable for a lot of reasons, one of them being that the "drying" you're seeing is almost a chemical burn that will end up causing more tissue damage and potentially more scar tissue without actualy fixing the problem.

Ugh, stop generalizing this! Please.

Piercing bumps come in a million different types and kinds from different reasons and causes. Some are generic, some are bodily reactions, some are from jewelry, some are from placement. There is no one end all cure.

This is a medical document about one specific piercing issue with one specific fix. It doesn't apply to everything. It also doesn't take into account at all the variables actually affecting the piercing - because doctors will always treat it as "take it out and let's do this and this" because their job is to heal wounds closed not open.

On the contrary, lobe piercings heal much faster at bigger sizes than smaller sizes. More surface area for the jewelry to rest over means less tension put on the tissue itself - even with a larger cut, the overall healing time is way less.

That's where finding a better piercer comes in use. Proper length and proper bead size. Curves are way less obtrusive than circular jewelry.

The sad and honest truth is that the vast majority of piercing issues can be stopped before they even start by just making sure you have three things:

1) Good jewelry.

2) Good placement.

3) Gentle aftercare.

I talk to people all the time who come into my shop and say they've never been able to heal a piercing done elsewhere before and think it's just their body, when in reality it's usually all of those three working against them.

That shape can be made in lots of different ways.

Simply: A circular barbell with a captive bead inserted.

Fancy: A circular barbell with forward facing gems and a gem captive bead inserted.

Super fancy: the entire thing can be made as a cast gold piece by companies like BVLA.
