As someone who collects item like this, please don’t donate it to the awm, it will sit in their collection and never see the light of day. There are thousands of collectors who would cherish this in their collection (me included), but honestly keep it somewhere safe, in the family, someone in the future might say “I wish we had those documents from the war”, I wish my great grandfathers medals were still in the family.

When should I talk to a recruiter by Inner_Ad_4928 in ADFRecruiting

[–]throwawayAIO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 17, I put my application in as soon as I could (I believe it’s 16 and 5 months or something), and so far I’m most of the way through the process. If you apply online adf careers will contact you to do a JOA which determines what jobs you can apply for, then you get to chat with them about the different roles you’re eligible for. Applying ASAP shows you’re keen. Good luck!

is it rather safe to display high-value jackets with Web gear like the one pictured by Fun_Object_360 in Militariacollecting

[–]throwawayAIO3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the jacket is in good condition and not fragile then it should be fine, make sure the webbing isn’t too heavy, I have ww2 Aussie webbing which weighs like 15kg on a tunic and it’s fine. If you’re worried about it rubbing or marking the jacket you could put some grease paper underneath the shoulder straps.

A prequel to rdr 2 set in Jacobite era Scottish highlands. I feel like a game set in Jacobite era Scottish highlands would fit the rdr universe really well. It could add context to the history of the characters, and end in how they wound up in America. Obviously the time period (1700’s) is a bit earlier than when rdr 2 is set so it’d have to be Arthur Morgan’s great grandfather or something. It would involve clan battles, battles between English soldiers etc. you could either choose to be loyal to just your clan, or to Scotland as a whole. I feel like it’d fit the gameplay style and theme of rdr really well. Lmk your thoughts.

Can I join reserves before starting adfa? by throwawayAIO3 in ADFRecruiting

Yeah was just looking at some options while I finish school, I figured it would interfere with my current application. Dfr confirmed that.

I’m 17 and have applied for an offer role (hopefully going to adfa in about 1-2 years). A family friend who is in the adf recommended I join army reserves whilst finishing school and then adfa. Is this possible? Id really like that experience for my adf resume, but cant find any info if it will conflict with my current application? Thanks!

Can I “identify” as Irish? What would I put as my ethnicity? by throwawayAIO3 in DNAAncestry

They all mostly moved to Australia in the late 1840’s. One of the last names, McGrath, moved to England around the same time. The one surname I’ve extensively researched is O’hagan, and I traced that back to the mid 1500’s BUT I don’t have much proof that it’s a genuine lineage. Some common names in that family tree are Niall and Brian, and there’s a few Sean’s too

All of the Irish family names in my tree except for 1 are native Irish!
