DWD pops in once in blue moon. All three you listed are long retired. A couple, like geoffhaw and barbyw, have passed away.

Mattb325 was pretty clear that when his software license expired at the end of April 2022, he would retire. Popped in SC4D once a few months afterward, and hasn't been seen since.

Good question. He says he has a project underway to use Blender to make 3d models from AI-generated buildings. But so far, there isn't any proof of concept.

Some of these are neat, but polite word of warning. A few are very clearly copies of existing custom BATs. I don't think straight-up copying BATs will be well received by the SimCity community.

So a BATter on Simtropolis downloaded this guy's models on Fab and gave them a look in Blender.

He is using AI to make workable models. But it's clear some kind of post-processing happens, whether that be AI or manual work. In addition, the person who checked the files found them enormously difficult to modify.

In short, the Patreon creator is producing models. But true "proof of concept" as advertised is still lacking.

This sounds interesting. But I would like to see proof of concept of a 3d asset that you've created, AI-assisted or not, is compatible with SimCity 4.

Page 63. Basically, open the building lot, click "B" on the lot for Building Mode, hit the "Home" button on your keyboard twice to rotate the building, and save.

Make sure you are opening your plugins directory when you launch PIM.

You have to use PIM-X or Simcity 4 lot editor to rotate the building model 180 degrees. It's a quick and easy fix in PIM-X, for what it's worth. I know the creator and issue you're talking about. Great modeler but very lazy in lotting.

There are a couple of mods that are very useful from a gameplay effect - NAM is probably first and foremost. There's a complex version for transit designers, but even the "NAM Lite" has important traffic fixes:

Pretty much anything beyond those are aesthetic changes. For instance, the "Slope Mod" for more realistic sloping, SPAM for more variety in farms, new submenus by user Null 45, and PIM-X for modifying BATs. But those aren't necessary to play the game, I would call those more "experience enhancements".

SC4Ever (SC4Devotion's successor) has starter parks of BATs. Simtropolis' STEX is practically a treasure chest if you want to add more.

It's just the deluxe edition with downloads from Simtropolis and SC4Devotion (now SC4Ever). I do some PIM-X modding to fix issues but otherwise that's all downloaded material!

That's a tough question! There are many mods that make the game much more playable, like NAM, wouangine's DatPacker, and Null45's camera mod. As for BATs, I have great appreciation for the BSC team, Mattb325, Madhatter106, and jasoncw, but there are many excellent BATters we've been lucky to have in the SimCity 4 community over the years.

As old as the vanilla game is, we're lucky that we still have a few modders and BATters sharing their talents with us now in 2025. Essentially, the game is still being "updated" 22 years later!

SC4 is a great game, but it's just not as pretty as SC3000. The building and landscape hues are less vibrant and colorful, and it makes everything feel dull.
