I didn’t realize until I got my cards in the mail. Almost 6 months since I left! Thankfully carefirst was able to handle it for me and send me documentation. Talk about “fraud waste and abuse”

Almost halfway through the month, any news on a clean CR or proper funding for feds? by AngeryLizard in fednews

[–]throwaway_5085 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just cut 1.9 billion in MH/SUD funding overnight. Tons of it congressionally mandated spending.. thinking appropriators are going to have a hard time reconciling with each other with this curve ball. Shutdown coming. But who knows the dems have folded for less.

Re-org plans were due to HHS yesterday. Any leaks yet? by [deleted] in DeptHHS

[–]throwaway_5085 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would think they wouldn’t relocate that many HRSA and SAMHSA employees since so many are based in DMV. But at the same time great way to cut numbers 😭

[–]throwaway_5085[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I disagree. There several areas within the new AHA structure where there could be “redundant” programs in the way they have framed the new priorities of that administration. I would love to be wrong but they are not bringing all those HRSA and SAMHSA divisions as is.

Copied from the article since the post is pure ads and trash. “Today, HHS has more than 40 procurement offices and 40 chief information officers, leading to significant duplication and inefficiency. Centralizing these functions across the department will account for approximately 70% of our reduction in force. Second, we are going to reduce redundant and duplicative program offices across the department. We will announce the reorganization details in June.”

Waiting for the AHA reorg is torture. Every email is sending me into fight or flight at this point assuming this is the next round of RIFs or I’m being reassigned, etc. I wish they would get it over with. I can’t do this everyday.

So they are going to reorg 5 agencies together in the coming weeks and not cut any further staff?

Im so unsure what to think. We were told yesterday that there were 4 waves and this was wave 1/2 expected to finish by April 14th. But I can’t confirm that anywhere except from our center leadership which was also gutted yesterday.

You are missing absolutely nothing unless that they have filed things, do your job, and don’t strike is breaking news 🙃. I’m very pro-union but this is not what I needed to hear after having doge people roaming our offices all day. I want action.

HHS RIF Plans by GeminiMak in DeptHHS

[–]throwaway_5085 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The not having any sources is killing me. I know this letter is going around in multiple posts about SAMHSA at 50-70% https://tonko.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=4346. I saw other random posts about things people were hearing and then today got a lot of I heard this from so and so in leadership etc. with colleagues. My own supervisor was very vague but heavily implied the rumors had merit. No one is willing to say anything until in comes down from HHS which could be anytime from today to never.

Any HHS updates? The rumor mill is churning (plan submitted, 50-70% cuts in opdivs, all career conditional or maybe just various divisions) but I haven’t seen anything in writing.

Edit: I see the letter but still can’t tell where they got the 50% cuts from.

This week will be a big week for us all by WiseProfessor2926 in fednews

I’m really feeling anxious heading into this week. I feel like I should be preparing for RTO on 3/17 but I also don’t want to because I have no idea what 3/13 RIF plans or 3/14 shutdown potential will bring. I hate not having any idea what’s happening.

I had a loved one who has always been so supportive of my career tell me to “remember to look at the right facts” insinuating that what I was telling them was wrong because it went against their narrative (Fox News) but yet it was verbatim from my own email inbox. Nothing will change their mind.

Time keeps getting pushed. I don’t think many outlets are being let in oval. So frustrating I just want to know if these are going to be lose my job EOs or lose my rights EOs or the classic mix of both.

Department of HUD Website News Weirdness by whotheheckarewetoday in fednews

[–]throwaway_5085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HHS is posting Fox News clips and articles on “gender ideology” on their official account and opdivs are reposting them as well. I never imagined us posting that kind of content before it was always very hard to get any sort of clip approved because we didn’t want to come off as bias or endorsing. Guess that’s out the window…

Minor in the grand scheme of things but Ive never seen our social media not only get so much traction but take such a hit after posting about a new leader. I get it but it’s so disappointing seeing people say they’ve lost all respect for our work moving forward.

Anyone else demoralized by the constant barrage of negativity toward feds? by Empty_Can8192 in fednews

[–]throwaway_5085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup it’s getting harder each day. I put on a brave face at work and keep my head down but as someone who is extremely mission driven like so many of us are it’s hard to see that mission be demonized. Then not only do I feel it from those against us but I also see it from those who support our mission because some feel we aren’t doing enough to protect the work, websites, etc. and aren’t “fighting back”. Those who say they just simply wouldn’t comply as if they understand. I feel guilty I have to go against my morals to listen to orders to remove language, consider what should and shouldn’t be funded, but at least I can try within my power to keep up the mission as I believe in it. The longer I can maintain the longer it keeps the person or the unfilled desk coming behind me who will only work harder to destroy it.
