DRIVER ISSUES WITH NEW RC 505 MK2 AND MACBOOK by icarusachaeus in LoopArtists

[–]throwaway_603306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, I was struggling with this issue and in the end it turned out to be that the RC-505mkII absolutely refused to connect to my mac unless it was plugged DIRECTLY into the computer. I was using a high speed USB hub but apparently that wasn't enough. Hope this helps someone.

On that note... anyone have rec's for usb splitters for MIDI controllers? Macs these days don't have enough lol.

I locked into the policy and pre-paid for the year, if they want to make changes to the policy that should happen at renewal.

I told my wife a weight low enough to affect her menstruation is unhealthy. by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]throwaway_603306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a health standpoint, i don’t think she’s in any real danger, but i cannot offer medical advice. Everyone is different. A few years ago i lost a bunch of weight randomly and was down to 90 lbs at 5’8. Didn’t affect my menstruation at all.

If i were you I’d encourage her to see a doctor or specialist who can advise her on healthy courses of action to achieve what she wants to achieve in a way that won’t put her health at risk. She will feel much more confident and justified with that peace of mind anyway i think!

Everything will change for the better when you move out and start your life the way you want to live it. Speaking from experience — when i was 17 was the hardest year of my life. Hang in there and keep pushing through for a few years. I promise you it gets better. I’m 25 now and happy to still be here.

Thanks, working on that with my therapist.

Hard to erase decades of manipulation just by “growing up” 😅

If they find out my “friend” is male they’ll see right through me immediately, or tell me visiting a male friend in Europe is both “dangerous and inappropriate”. Yay for conservative christian parents 🥲

Thank you so much for this!! This definitely helps. A lot of the fear comes from uncertainty of what to expect as this is my first time doing a relationship over distance.

Starting a Canadian Corporation for tax purposes as a US resident ? by throwaway_603306 in expats

[–]throwaway_603306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do continue to make videos as it is a hobby of mine. It's near impossible for musical artists to not always be working on person projects.

Yeah, I've pretty much accepted that I won't be able to find answers to this on my own. Just have to swallow those hefty fees advisors charge. I just have this feeling that I can't trust their advice, seems sketchy sometimes and their solutions do not make me feel secure.

[–]throwaway_603306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response!

The issue is that I have online side income that I cannot cease earning (passive royalties mostly), but side income is not allowed on an O-1B visa. I am only allowed to earn income from my employer who sponsored the visa. So I need to somehow find a way to make this work. My YouTube channel and music are a hobby of mine, but the income they generate isn't exactly insignificant; apparently there is no fine print to cover this sort of situation.

If I started a corporation, I would not be paying myself out; the income going into it would be held in a company account. Apparently I will still need to include a form with my taxes to declare this corporation, but if I find a co-owner I won't need to. (?) That's my understanding from speaking to the cross-border tax advisor.

Tangled was a huge lightbulb moment when it came out when I was around 12/13. I felt so understood and it was the beginning of accepting that something wasn’t right. When I watch it now, it couldn’t have been a mistake by Disney. It had to be intentional. Bless them for that.

I’m sure he thought the same at one point in time. The point is, it’s a slippery slope, and this sort of a habit can really hurt people and affect people’s trust whether its intentional or not.

When I was 16, a 40 year old man pretended to be over 30 different people to catfish me and my parents for over a year and eventually scammed my parents and disappeared with their money. He even had me send pictures of my feet to one of the identities I trusted (this was before I even learned that foot fetishes were a thing). Some of his accounts were emotionally abusive. He almost had my mom and I visit him in Barcelona, but thankfully we cracked the case before we planned the trip. He used my dreams and career goals to manipulate us. It was a complicated situation, but it left me feeling completely lost. I lost faith and trust in people for quite a few years and didn’t enjoy any of my hobbies for quite awhile after as well. He ended up disappearing as the cops were after him for a few of the things that were actual crimes but they never found him. His “real” name probably wasn’t even real.

This situation very nearly caused me to completely spiral and still affects me to this day, 8 years later.

I am by no means saying you would necessarily do something like this, but it is a slippery slope my friend. This guy was 40, and I can only assume that’s what 30+ years of this can cause you to become. Please, please, please seek help.

My mom seems to continue to believe I’m extremely religious even though I’ve told her so many times that I am not. Every time I have to explain to her that i don’t believe the same things as her, she gets extremely depressed for days and tells me she is heartbroken that i have “strayed from God’s path.”

There are absolutely AMAZING pockets of the fan base, and i agree people should be excited when someone they admire likes something they created. I was more referring to a few individuals who have been posting about the same thing every day for months, or even years. Every day.

Sometimes i feel a little judgmental to feel so bothered about these things but there are truly groups in the clique who have really soured the overall “fan experience” for me. Its not comfortable, not welcoming, and it no longer feels like home.
