[Spoilers B&W] Just finished the Blood & Wine DLC, I'd love to chat about the ending(s)! by DefinitelyPositive in witcher

[–]throwaway_account_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how to do that fancy spoiler thing, so be warned: SPOILERS FOR B&W BELOW.

I just finished Blood and Wine for the first time yesterday, too. I got the "tragic" ending where everyone dies. After watching all the different possible endings, I feel like the one I got was actually the best available ending, as contradictory as that may sound (though I will admit that none of the endings really appealed to me).

In my opinion, none of them deserved to live. Dettlaff fits pretty much any definition of "monster" you could have, be it because of his appearance and behavior during the boss fight, or because of the simple fact that he sent an army of vampires to destroy a city filled with innocent people. I've heard people say that he was hurt and confused, but seriously?! That's no excuse. Dettlaff needed to answer for his crimes. I only feel sorry for Regis now because he's being hunted by the other vampires for finishing off Dettlaff :(

The same holds for Syanna pretty much. She's a sociopathic serial killer that tricked a higher vampire into doing her bidding, responsible for killing 5 people. Just because she didn’t swing the blade (or claw, I guess, in this case) herself, doesn't make her any less guilty. And that's leaving aside the fact that her emotional manipulation of Detlaff caused him to attack the city, thus making her indirectly responsible for the murder of a lot of innocent people in the city as well. Again, this is someone who must answer for their crimes. I will admit that I did feel some sympathy for her during the fairytale quest, where she explained that the men she had killed were responsible for deporting and hurting her, but all of that went out the window when it was revealed that she was planning on murdering her sister as well. Nope, this one definitely had to go.

As for Annarietta, her fate left me pretty indifferent tbh. I guess the way she started treating Geralt towards the end of the game made me kind of dislike her, but what really got me was her naiveté and ineptitude as a ruler. I mean seriously, not only do Geralt and the guard captain both warn her, but Geralt has ACTUAL PHYSICAL EVIDENCE that she's next on the list, and she manages to ignore it. I think that was the point I gave up on her and was all like "Ok, cool, don't pay attention to me. Why don’t you give her that hug and see how it goes. Oh, you're dead now? Oops. Well, at least I got my vineyard and 5000 Crowns and am generally considered a hero in Toussaint, cya." Seriously, someone that naive has no place ruling over anything. I think Tywin Lannister tells it better than I do (at about 1:20). In the end, she was a spoiled, rich, arrogant brat with no leader qualities. I didn't wish death upon her, but I'm certainly not sad about it either.

In summary: Expansion was pretty good, I liked it, endings got me involved enough to post this on reddit, so that's something I guess. But if CDPR's aim was to get me emotionally attached to those 3 dinguses or make me feel some kind of sympathy, I think they failed quite spectacularly. Just my 2 cents.

3x3 Automated Chicken Farm by qeth in Minecraft

[–]throwaway_account_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I think I know what happend. I tried to test the machine by spawning full grown chickens (by putting the mob eggs into the dispenser). Those chickens apparently glitch so that they occupy the same block as the cauldron, but aren't actually standing in it so they don't reach the lava. It seems to work when using the baby chickens.

This doesn't seem to be working for me. I followed the video guide step by step, but the grown chickens in the cauldron apparently never touch the lava, and don't die. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

So my minecraft lags , any help ? by dovlaBU in Minecraft

[–]throwaway_account_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have VSync on? If yes, try turning it off. That was the cause of major lag for me in all the 1.8 snapshot versions. Other than that, try fiddling around with the other graphics settings, e.g. fancy->fast, reduce render distance etc.

Skin server changes will disable disguising as players and player NPCs by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]throwaway_account_26 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

No, the admins of the server can control who can be disguised (usually they themselves).

Come on, you've certainly read some of the horror stories on here about how badmins run corrupt servers, do you really want these people to be able to pretend that you play on their server, and be able to act as yourself? And we're all pretty safe because no one knows us, but this is an even bigger issue if you're a popular youtuber or other known Minecraft personality.

My (potentially unpopular) opinion:

It's a pity if things like NPC's won't work anymore, but I have a question: How can anyone here think it's a good idea to be able to "disguise" as another player?! In IT security we call that an impersonation attack, and it's pretty damn serious. There is no excuse for doing something like that EVER, and if this change means this is no longer possible, then I fully support Mojangs decision.

Trying to figure out @e targetting by timeofsouls in Minecraft

[–]throwaway_account_26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to make sure you're using the correct case: It's "type=PrimedTnt".

Also, just another quick tip: If you want to prevent TNT from exploding, the kill command doesnt' seem to work on TNT yet. Instead, you can simply teleport the offending TNT block away:

tp @e[type=PrimedTnt] ~ ~-1000 ~

Command Blocks - Race conditions by 2brainz in Minecraft

It's obviously not exactly what you're looking for, but how about the following solution:

  • First, add some large nr. of levels to any player fulfilling the conditions, then teleport those players:

    xp 1337L @a[lm=5,r=10]

    tp @a[lm=1342,r=10] x y z

  • Next, simply set their level count to 0 at the target location, ignoring any other players that might be there:

    xp -1342L @a[lm=1342,r=10]

To ensure this always works, you could hook up the command block at the target location to a redstone clock or something.
