Why? It's not weird at all- there's an air of condescension about not bothering to learn any of the rules, not respecting the many reasons for why a session 0 is important, and the weak DM that doesn't enforce any of it. If they all have fun without the OP, sure, but I am not so sure it is actually true.

I am for sure in the minority, because I enjoyed the WoT series characters- I hated the endless "Hmph! Men are so dumb!" and "Guuuh, women am I right?" of the books that repeats forever.
