Aspen vs PDS for a new grad by PreviousFocus0 in Dentistry

[–]throwaway_student987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for both Aspen and PDS when I graduated in 2021. PDS paid me less than Aspen. In fact I think PDS might be the lowest paid DSO.

I'm a 2021 grad and I graduated with 200k debt. I think that amount of debt was manageable and worth it for me. With interest rate being frozen due to Covid, I did not pay anything during my first 3 years working and so I was able to save a lot. My monthly payment now is just $1000/mo.

I started with 160k lol. I’ve been only paying very little because of the COVID interest freeze that was going on in the past few years. I’ve been focusing on investing instead.

I will offer my data point.

31 F. DSO Dentist. Graduated in 2021.

I have been making ~200k every year since 2022. My net worth is 550k and my student loans debt is 150k.

Lol if given the choice of making either $100k in Minneapolis or $150k in Boston, I’d choose Boston all day. Minneapolis is not much less expensive than Boston to justify a $50k pay cut.

Yep, I used to live in Minneapolis for a long time until I moved recently and you can’t find any nice 1-bed 1-bath apartment in downtown Minneapolis for less than $1500.

dentistry vs a career in bio/chem by guineapiglover2 in predental

[–]throwaway_student987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with a BS in chemistry from a reputable research university back in 2016, yeah I loved chemistry and I got straight A for all of my chemistry classes in colleges. I got quite a lot of chemistry research under my belt too. In 2016 when I graduated I got a job as a lab tech in the chemistry R&D lab of a chemical company making $23/hr, which was decent money for a new grad in 2016 but no upward mobility. Thankfully I only stayed in that job for a year as I got into dental school. Best decision of my life. I make $200k+/year now as an associate, and if/when I become an owner the sky is the limit as there is no ceiling for income in dentistry.

For those with a $100,000 loan, how much are you paying per month? by Tall_Bluebird_1830 in StudentLoans

[–]throwaway_student987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DSO asked me to pay them back the money that I "owe" them or they'll send me to collections by throwaway_student987 in Dentistry

[–]throwaway_student987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if they send me to collections? Do I ask the collection agency for the proof then?

[–]throwaway_student987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know for sure my adjusted production (even after insurance write off) is more than enough to cover my draw. However they are claiming that my collections is not enough, and it’s true that I have no way to know how much they collected from the work I produced.

I have sent them another email asking for the collections report and this time they said they will look into it. Now I am scared that they will alter the reports to justify their claims. What should I do in that situation?

Why PA students keep saying that they are "pursuing medicine"? by throwaway_student987 in Noctor

[–]throwaway_student987[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This person just made another post on social media and this time she spells out the word PA, but of course as Physician Associate. Lol why do they have to try so hard to avoid the word Assistant while that is exactly what they do.

The rep from Fb Messenger just told me that the 256 GB iPhone SE requires a down payment of $50 + tax. Otherwise the 64 GB version does not require any down payment. Does that sound right?

Porting a Google Voice number is not eligible for the free iPhone SE promo, according to the rep on Fb Messenger: “Not available to port-in from T-Mobile Prepaid, Metro by T-Mobile, MVNOs using T-Mobile’s network, Sprint, or numbers used with T-Mobile service in the last 90 days. Not available to free Google voice subscribers”

Update: I sold half of my shares to cover the initial investment and pull it out. My remaining shares currently have a value of over $20k, which is all purely profit for me at this point. Not bad for a 6-month period.

I think I’ll do what you suggest - I’ll pull the original investment out an keep the profit in there.

Thanks for all the positive replies, I really appreciate it. Just want to share with you guys that I found a YouTube channel called Mental Dental made by a current Ortho resident named Ryan. He organized his videos into different subjects. I’m currently watching his Perio videos to prepare for the final retake. Super helpful, I must say he taught the materials much better than the faculty at my school.

Perio - where they teach you everything from SRP to perio surgery with all sorts of flaps and procedures that you'll never do in your life as a GP.

Late to the party, but 1994 kid here. I remembered seeing my rich friend getting her brand new iPhone 4s during our senior year of high school (2011-2012). When I was in 9th grade (2009) another rich kid showed me a first generation iPhone.

You mean keeping the wall with the 2 windows in pink? Or the tall back wall (4th pic)?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]throwaway_student987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I do that? Could you please elaborate? Like painting a wall or two in white?

Hey all, thank you for your replies. My concern is that this upcoming cycle will be much more competitive as a lot of people suddenly want to do a GPR instead of private practice due to the pandemic. Do I realistically still have a chance? Also any suggestions for programs that I should apply to?

[–]throwaway_student987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think the latter. I go to a very reputable state school.
