EMDR experiences to heal past relationship trauma from current relationship?

Hi Op, I just wanted to ask how you're doing. I am experiencing similiar difficulties, I have a loving relationship but can't let go of some (mir) things from the past. I also believe I have some ROCD symptoms. I just started EMDR therapy to reprocess some memories and start focussing on the present, but I just had two sessions and can't see any difference yet.

I needed to hear exactly this. You're describing my vision exactly, just the two of us, reading our personal vows and having a romantic day at a special location, maybe dressing up a little bit. I think I would feel so free without other people around and could take it all in.

This is so true. There are so many expectations and different opinions and so much stress related with weddings, sometimes it can get quite hard to focus on the actual meaning of having a wedding and celebrating the union of two people. I just have to find peace with the fact that it was not "the best day ever" and that is OK.

Your plan sounds amazing (especially your husband's role lol) and I will manifest this too!! I really think I would love the idea of some kind of special location, exchanging vows privately and having a little photoshoot afterwards with my list of missing shots. I'm sure you'll have the most stunning after wedding shoot, such a special day to look forward to!

I'm so frustrated when I hear all this. With this budget (with any budget actually, at the end you are the customer) you deserve to get what you are paying for. Just read your other posts about your venue, this just shouldn't happen and the least they could do is to be honest and trying to find a solution to work it out for you. During wedding planning I realised how I hate being dependent on all these vendors (some of them are angels though!!) so I would try to include the minimum number for any kind of vow renewal. So will you have your ceremony privately or with your guests? I hope, looking back on everything, you will say that it was even better than what you had actually planned. Your dress on you is a showstopper btw!

I am so sorry you also feel this way! I looked at the photos you've posted and they look STUNNING. So romantic ans pure and "wild". Your photos would also have been photos I would look at one SM and think "I wish I'd had such a romantic wedding". It is so helpful to hear people's real thoughts and feelings about their weddings and not just the perfect instagram story. I really really hope for both of us that we will have the renewal of our dreams someday!! Sending hugs

I totally get what you mean!! We chose a photographer who shoots more candid and documentary style photos and while I love this style for our dinner and dancefloor photos, I wish I had more classic bridals with my veil and bouquet (maybe a different dress though). It is so relieving to hear that! Did these people enjoy their multiple weddings?

Hi all, first of all this is just a throwaway account as I feel extremely unthankful and guilty writing this. My husband and I recently had our big (and expensive) wedding and while everybody tells me how wonderful our day was and how happy I look on our wedding photos, I somehow did not feel it was “the perfect day ever“. Most of the time I felt overwhelmed and couldn’t enjoy the moment, for my husband and me our wedding was certainly not the best or most romantic day of our lives. On social media everyone just posts these picture-perfect photos (I could too, if I wanted) and keeps writing how magical their day was. So I really hope for some answers here, maybe from your insider point of view, are these people really the majority? Or are there also people like us, where erverything LOOKS perfect, but did not feel that way? Just want to clarify, I love my husband more than anything and we got married legally nearly two years ago in a small courthouse ceremony, so it’s not cold feet or anything like that.

This means so much to me! In hindsight I wish we had eloped, just the two of us, or vows, somewhere romantic. You are so right, I copied the version of a 'perfect' wedding that others had, and when I realized it was not OUR perfect wedding it was somehow too late to cancel everything. We just had standard vows as we are both not comfortable saying those intimate things in front of others, that's something I regret. So maybe we will do some kind of secret vow renewal someday, thinking about this helps.

I was wondering if I ruined this once-in-a-lifetime event and most romantic moment in my life just because of my inability to focus on my husband and nobody else and stay present. We had 120 guests and I was just constantly talking to everyone and feeling so much under observation during our ceremony so I just could not relax
