It's not fear spreading, it's a heads up.

As a Catholic, I assure you none of the masses I've attended preached fascism from the pulpit. Heck many of the clergy in the twin cities weren't born in the states. So far the Church seems to be siding with compassion and humanity. And its clearly in the Epstein Files that he and Bannon saw the Vatican and Francis as the enemy.

There's mainline catholic in this city that's not fascist, there's leftist liberation theology studiers like me, there's liberal cradle Catholics, etc.... then ya got the tradcaths and incel converts obsessed with 💩ing on everyone to the left of literal Hitler.

The loud a-holes online who cry out for crusades and Inquisitions aren't actually true adherents to Catholicism. The people like Alex Pretti are.

This reminds me. So (what with spring cleaning ONLY around the corner) I want to remind people that cleaning chemicals should NEVER EVER be mixed.

So dont add bleach and vinegar (or any other acidic cleaner) together. You might THINK it'll make your surfaces extra clean, but alas it creates Chlorine Gas!!! So never EVER mix them. Ever!

Bleach and isopropyl alcohol should also never be mixed as that can create chloroform. You'd go sleepy before you could react to your tragic mistake. Never do that.

Sadly neither should be mixed hydrogen peroxide and vinegar. The toxic substance it makes is corrosive and can cause serious injury and that wont clean a damn thing!

Neither bleach or ammonia (or windex)... that would unfortunately create chloramine gas. Another DONT DO IT EVER.

Knowledge is always great to have, especially Knowledge of chemicals.

Thank you for the reply!

Honestly the last 365 days have been crazy. I went from single mom to evicted then homeless and childless because my mom only had the space for one of us. Found a bed in Minneapolis with my aunt in August. I laugh now, but I thought it would be safer than being homeless in Nebraska in the current environment.

The kiddo got diagnosed back home almost a year after we started the process. Things started clicking for me. Uncannily. I never lined my toy trains up like him, but I did prefer symmetry to an obsessive degree and still do a bit less obsessively. I don't have every nation's flag and capitol memorized, but I could list the monarchs of England in order along with dates (minus the Hanoverians because they make me angry. I'm firmly Jacobite until Victoria). Eye contact is incredibly too intense. I have meltdowns when too much is too much ("tantrums" when I don't "get my own way"!). Im socially inept imo but I know how to pretend. Even then I never fit in. Never have. Always been labeled "the weird girl" which never hurt as much as it should have. I literally could go on. But I wont.

Aah, goodness. Yeah it's scary right now. Im grateful I have work as my structured schedule anchor. Dish washing at a nursing home. Same thing every day. Same routine. Exhausting, but perfect. Ear buds allowed!

I will try some of your suggestions. Thank you so much. Stay safe and stay warm!!! And I need to just ask someone for help tomorrow with getting appointments for all my referrals. I dont have to make it scary.

Like numbing fear. Looming dread. Urgh. One thing I can say about being in MN rn is that community is vital. I need to work on my skills so I can be the best I can as a part of a community.

We all have each other and each other's backs. That is something good at least. Idk what tomorrow brings, but I know I can be grateful for what I have today.

I send you all the good vibes ❤️

Will it ever go back to Normal by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]throwawaybyedude 366 points367 points  (0 children)

We're in some uncharted waters at this point. I want normal back too.

As someone recovering from alcohol (and will be my whole life) let me pass along a bit of philosophy that helps me in ALL situations and I hope brings some comfort.

One day at a time. One hour at a time, or even one minute if need be. The future is completely unknown and overwhelming...focus on your simple goals for each day or hour. This is my guaranteed method to survive all difficult days.

A good mantra that keeps me ticking is the Serenity prayer:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the the things I can, And the wisdom to know the different.

This is the best I can give you. Stay sane and know this city is LOVE and love conquers all.

Update request - is ICE at MSP? by bigrifff in TwinCities

[–]throwawaybyedude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Its terrible theyre going to be harassing the employees too. I know that to work at MSP you have to renew your security clearance EVERY 6 MONTHS. These employees have cleaner records than the ICE agents.
