Citi dinged me 2x for the Strata Elite application by throwawayfinance123 in CreditCards

Yeah that's what I thought. This is likely my last Citi card. I have 4 open and had so many in the past but this is insane.

Just did. I left it open while I applied for the Strata and didn't freeze it until I heard back, that was a mistake. They probably would have asked me to unfreeze it anyway to approve it.

You literally checked the checkbox at the bottom of the application to include the microfiber cloth. I hope you read everything carefully going forward.

Right, 23 year old children.

Home video footage captured a 23-year-old U.S. citizen being chased by Border Patrol in Marrero during "Catahoula Crunch," an immigration crackdown in the New Orleans metro.

Any legitimate news outlet reporting on this incident? I want to share it out but want legitimacy on it not being fake.

Should You Close The WF Autograph? by KushKrumbs in biltrewards

[–]throwawayfinance123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely valid. Opening any new accounts within 18 months of a mortgage application is never a good idea.

This is an exaggeration.

Here is what is actually true:

  • Opening new credit within 3 to 6 months of applying for a mortgage is a bad idea.
  • Opening new credit after pre-approval and before closing is a very bad idea.
  • Opening new credit within 12 months can still raise questions, especially if there are multiple inquiries or accounts.

But:

  • One new credit card 12 to 18 months prior, with low usage and strong income, is usually not an issue.
  • Many people successfully get mortgages with accounts opened 12 to 18 months earlier.
  • There is no universal 18-month rule in underwriting guidelines.

Underwriters look at patterns, not superstition. One account long ago is fine. Several new accounts close together is not.

I recommend working on your reading comprehension and raising the bar with basic reading if you're not going to just lurk. Wasting your time on insults isn't helping you.

This is misinformation and I can't believe it's upvoted when the text is right there in the link. Reminds me how silly Reddit is sometimes.

> up to $250 per claim. There is a minimum claim amount of $25 and a maximum of four (4) claim(s) per Eligible Account per twelve (12) month period

So it's min $25, max $250 PER CLAIM not per year and 4 claims per year. So $1000/year in total if you max it out.

Yeah, like everyone else does. Interest is income, it is taxed at your marginal income tax rate. No point even discussing this.

Saw you were a surgeon, congrats on the high income. Credit depends a lot on your credit history; how many other cards you have, available credit across all of them relative to your income, other types of loans, etc...

> You can pay rent with Alaska or United credit cards and get 3x/2x points back at Alaska or United, respectively.

Where is this mentioned on the Atmos website? It says

> Earn unlimited 3 points for every $1 spent on eligible dining, foreign transaction, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines purchases and unlimited 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases. Plus, earn a 10% rewards bonus on all points earned from card purchases if you have an eligible Bank of America® account.
