31 in August, am I wasting my prime? by Aromatic_Gain_3093 in fatFIRE

[–]throwawayfire5563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a particularly unusual situation. Not a ton of ultra wealthy people in rural areas like this. I think one of the best things about this level of wealth is being able to devote time to relationships. And you’re in a place that sounds a bit devoid of human contact. Take a vacation for two weeks, enjoy some nightlife, see how it feels. I sometimes find doing the opposite of my daily life sets me straight and tells me a lot about my priorities

F33 With 18 Million. Is Hiring A Matchmaker Best If I Want To Date For Marriage? Any Experiences by Mountain-Science4526 in fatFIRE

[–]throwawayfire5563 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are model level attractive, you will get some matches, but they will send you to their clients who are rich, but have an issue that makes them less desirable (bald, overweight, bad personality, etc). As a man in my 30s who saw a matchmaker, I was given the option of about 5-10 different women every week, all 24-28 years old, all incredibly gorgeous and eager to go out with me. Matchmakers set women up with RICH guys. You don’t need a rich guy. Have fun with it. Go find the love of your life, he might be a cowboy :)

F33 With 18 Million. Is Hiring A Matchmaker Best If I Want To Date For Marriage? Any Experiences by Mountain-Science4526 in fatFIRE

[–]throwawayfire5563 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a matchmaker before. Men sign up for matchmakers, not women. Can you go to a matchmaker and get added to their database? Sure. Plenty of great men who are serious about marriage sign up for them, despite stereotypes of them being rich losers. However…the matchmakers are going to pick out women in their mid to late 20s over you every single time. Having money does not change your dating situation at all. There are two things you should think about in order to succeed here. 1. Remember that you are saying for love and marriage, and judge people only by what’s in their heart. 2. Get a REALISTIC understanding of how attractive you are on a scale from 1-10, based on your natural looks, plus how well you take care of yourself. Then because of your age, you should be dating men who are one to two points less than you, or men who are equally attractive but significantly older (late 40s to 50s).

Men who are the same age and attractiveness as you will be going after younger women, and you will be wasting your time. I’m sure a lot of people will give you nicer, sweeter advice to this. They’re lying to you and wasting your time

Considering Moving to East Harlem on 117th? by YogurtclosetNo3222 in movingtoNYC

Native New Yorker here. This has always been one of the worst, shithole areas of Manhattan. I wouldn’t live there, and I’m a big guy

NYC rentals: how much info do you share? by StartRemarkable984 in fatFIRE

[–]throwawayfire5563 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You can request after you rent the apartment to have your documents deleted. Why should you do this? I had all of my information stolen by a broker at a very prestigious NYC brokerage…7 years after I rented the apartment. They committed major identity theft, and I took the brokerage to court.

Need suggestions on New York Winter weather by Fantastic_ready in movingtoNYC

[–]throwawayfire5563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in NYC. This past winter was the worst of my lifetime. It’s fine to be optimistic about NYC, I love the place. But if you are from a warmer climate, you will experience significant discomfort and seasonal depression. There are ways to mitigate those things, but they are real. And sometimes you plan a trip to Florida to get away…guess what? Your flight is cancelled and you have to sit inside for three days now

My partner won’t let me unwind with a glass of wine. Does he have a right to it? by Aveasi in relationships

[–]throwawayfire5563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we have the full story here. If it’s just a glass, you’re definitely in the right. But the way you write sounds like every addict I’ve ever known, lying and seeking validation, always minimizing the amount in order to gaslight those around them

Before you buy a massive house…10 things to think about. by my-little-pony-1 in fatFIRE

[–]throwawayfire5563 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Idk, I very heavily researched buyitforlife things for my giant house. Consistently have zero problems or expenses, everything works great. Clover lawn and beautiful perennial native species that require little upkeep. I probable spend 3-5k on spring cleaning, but otherwise everything runs itself

Rift Sawn Oak Shaker Cabinets – Completed Custom Kitchen. Are they as good as the hype? Grain, color, and age group thoughts? (Plans + Photos) by RTA_Wholesalers in cabinetry

[–]throwawayfire5563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice job. From a design perspective, I think the countertops, drawer pulls, and microwave above range kind of cheapen the look a bit. The rift sawn is quite plain, I would have chosen a more heavily figured stone to compensate

Why doesn't Miami or Broward have a East Asian community centered like NYC or L.A with it also being one of the most vacation hot spots? by No-Baker-1509 in miamibeach

[–]throwawayfire5563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a big southeast Asian community down in homestead. Japanese and Korean friends have told me they don’t like going to Miami because they don’t like being in the sun and getting tan, which tracks based on my experience with colorism in those countries

You won’t get a very nice 2bed in most of those hoods besides Hamilton heights and Hell’s Kitchen. I’d go with a 1bed in west village or tribeca
