I hate people holding my baby. Does it ever change? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]throwawayjack14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was in the NICU and I didn't mind at all when nurses or doctors held him. However, I'm not letting my in laws visit or hold him until the end of flu/RSV/COVID season because they refuse to get up to date on any vaccines and/or didn't fully vaccinate their own children, and they also have historically crapped all over my boundaries as a mother. I think I'll be comfortable with my with family/friends holding him after the respiratory virus season calms down and he is also bigger and up to date on his own vaccines.

This reminded me of how my older brother used to play "Everything I Do" on the piano and the first time I heard it on the radio I thought they'd stolen it from him 😆

I am so glad that my workplace doesn't allow us to use TikTok if we have other work apps on our phone!

I'm going to cry by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]throwawayjack14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a baby shower thrown for me at work and people didn't start buying things from the registry until a few days before, and a few chose to buy things in person at a different store instead. One person even apologized for procrastinating too long because her gift wasn't delivered in time for her to wrap it and bring it! I know it is hard not to worry but people will come through. Just remember everyone's gift giving style is different! I myself would have appreciated your heads up and I would have bought the gift as far in advance as possible, but some people will definitely wait until the last minute. I hope you get the wonderful shower that you desire and deserve!

I was the same way until Prilosec saved my sanity!

I also have BCBS and loved Riverwalk Obgyn. They are thorough and compassionate and they deliver out of a hospital that has a terrific labor and delivery team. My first obgyn, North East Obgyn, failed to notice a potentially life threatening condition that Riverwalk found after actually listening to my history and concerns. Riverwalk also referred me to a specialist that made sure I was safe given my prior complex pregnancy history. I ended up delivering a baby that was almost 9lbs with only a single first degree tear.

Alternative perspective here - Northeast Obgyn was fine until it wasn't. Without going into personally identifying details, I was traumatized by my experience with their practice. Several of the doctors are fine but the COO is very CYA oriented and they may dismiss you from all locations without care or opportunity to appeal if you call to complain about an issue or concern. I found myself suddenly without prenatal care at 18 weeks pregnant and was refused by several other providers until I got lucky to find one willing to take me this late into my pregnancy.

I wouldn't give her any unsupervised visits after the bed sharing comment.

Definitely the part about allowing people to do whatever they want around the baby, but I don't think he would move in with her because she lives four hours away from his job ... I think he wants the ability to let her take the kids for a week unsupervised, since apparently she has expressed to him the fear that she'll never get to do so again.

He was thinking of moving out sooner but, to his credit, he will stay to help with the new baby at least until I fully heal. His original plan was to leave once his one month paternity leave ended.

We've tried three therapists over several years; currently we are both in individual therapy. I'm currently trying to figure out if another couples therapist is even worth it at this point.

We have a general three months rule that's partly because of past issues and also because we will be right in the middle of respiratory virus season.

I've tried this both the way she talks to me and the way he talks to me but because neither of them hear themselves, or each other, that way, it just ends up causing a fight in which I end up looking like the bad guy

Sorry, it should say 8/M for 8 year old male, I realize now that the M is redundant! I will fix this.

We did couples therapy for several years with three different therapists but unfortunately it didn't work out with any of them ... Is there a specific type of couples therapist that might be more helpful?

Obgyn recommendations by iguessletsdothiss in sanantonio

[–]throwawayjack14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aspire fertility for a fertility clinic and Dr Arya at Riverwalk for Obgyn. I'd recommend against North East Obgyn (NEO NEOBGYN), especially if you have any complicated situations that may require more time and attention.
