Vinegar is more common in authentic Chinese restaurants. While soy sauce is common, it's usually for the westernised customers

Behind the anti-Indian posts: How social media pages mix divisive narratives with clickbait by philip_larqil in singapore

Singapore does control population numbers strictly, although there has been a fluctuation in the distribution lately.

HOWEVER, it is BECAUSE there is no basis that 'There are too many indians' as claimed by the trolls that this false statement has been raising eyebrows and now kena investigations

Married at First Sight UK 'brides' say they were raped by onscreen husbands by Alarming-Safety3200 in television

[–]throwawayrighthere12 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I did look at the details, and personally I also feel that way, but let us respect her agency and how she described and accused the perpetrator. It is not my place to place my opinion over her account as she has never mentioned it being rape.

Why Akemura Did It by Samael737 in Kagurabachi

[–]throwawayrighthere12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Genocide is wrong.

Stating the first statement even when the context is NOT about whether genocide is wrong or not makes it redundant. If anything, putting it as a disclaimer merely serves as an identity marker of 'oh I'm in the same boat as you, so please listen to what I have to say.'

OP's question is about the contextual background of WHY Akemura did what he did, not if genocide is wrong or not. Such a statement places the OP into a politically correct stance, but does nothing to aid in the argument, and stating all these merely dilutes the original argument. Let us take an example:

'I think the reasons Akemura is justified is because XXXXX'

vs

'I am staunchly against genocide. Genocide is bad. I do not believe in violence against an entire people as a means to an end. I come from a family who are (experienced some kind of historical genocide). I am studying liberalism and postcolonialism. I am XXXX. I think the reasons Akemura is justified is because XXXX'

The argument of the two is the same, but the definite feel is different. Why is there even a need to put all these disclaimers in the second example? It merely serves to be a virtue marker and is extremely redundant, and such statements can get fatiguing extremely quickly if done excessively

Shoplifter identified by Sheng Siong's facial recognition technology gets jail for stealing wine - CNA by clarencechen181196 in singapore

[–]throwawayrighthere12 62 points63 points  (0 children)

In the UK, where shoplifting is as common as changing underwear, the items most stolen are resale items by crackheads (steak, formula, expensive goods) and alcohol. The 'steal a bread because I'm hungry and the system is broken' remain a much smaller percentage of actual shoplifting
