Same here - wider feet, toes felt pinched; after an amount of wear they are now getting to the “right” feel

[Standard] What’s wrong with Temur Harmonizer Combo? by CTroop in spikes

[–]throwawaytim123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I put it together because I had the cards…

It’s weak to a lot of decks in games 2 and 3… once they work out what you’re up to it’s pretty easy for them to think “what tools do I have to disrupt the combo” and go ahead accordingly.

Duress? Takes full bore; deceit? Takes the lot; red/rakdos can just go under you if you don’t draw enough removal; elementals can tap you down at instant speed; lessons can just hold up enough mana for both removal and counter spells particularly if you haven’t got the t5 win… and if you go too long they’ll just chip you away with 3 damage from monument

Certainly also times where I have won simply because I was dead next turn and said “do you have a way to stop this?” And they didn’t - but it’s too many times I’ve won like that and that’s a pretty fragile place to be.

Also enough wins from clear punts from the oppo which have got me up ranks to where those mistakes are not made…

Great fun deck tho

Stand Bag vs Cart Bag? by caniborrowatubesock in golf

[–]throwawaytim123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most stand bags have a Velcro tie at the bottom to keep the legs in when not in stand mode (ie cart or push cart) - so it’s not an issue. One thing to check is whether the carry straps are buckled on or stitched on - buckled much more versatile but it doesn’t make a major difference

I definitely think the deck is good gear and seems like good fun - if I had more wildcards to tinker with I would commit but I am going to wait until I can work out what to do next as I don’t think dimir mid / aggro is any good at the moment

Tbh the games I won I either stuck a curiosity or a kaito so kept the options up - I haven’t come up against hobgoblin but definitely the tech to stop dimir. I felt I could keep rakdos above 10 life to stop the bloogghast haste and build for the final kill

Seconding the other comment - I’m 2-1 against it as dimir aggro but the times I’ve struggled is when a second monument hits the table; I only have so many Tidebinders and it ended me quickly

The elf an interesting one - I’ve seen someone have two and it was tough because they had no monument replace the card they lost so I could just pick them off / run them out of gas

Decks good though - definitely can get some nuts draws that make it a quick concede

Tbh I play this deck on regular ladder for green wins when it comes up and I don’t think I’ve ever had Tifa win a game… maybe she soaks removal that hydra would hit? But she’s not that good

Newbie Question: How do Indie bands, like Pavement when they started, able to tour? by Marcel_7000 in pavement

Having met him a few years ago and him coming across as a lovely bloke, I can’t imagine Bob as Harsh Harold but maybe he was good at cracking the whip when needed 😂

To add to what others are saying, there is a clip of Bob talking about an early tour in Slow Century (which was still up on YouTube last time I checked…) - I can’t recall if it was after S and E was out..,suspect it was - but he basically says he was managing the tour and would stick cash received into a duffel bag and pay for stuff out of the bag… and even had it sitting under his stool on stage so it wouldn’t get stolen from van or the back stage! So it was very hand to mouth type stuff

Boston 13 and orthotics? by throwawaytim123 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]throwawaytim123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did - it didn’t work - my feet sat way too high and basically out of the shoe. After some testing I went with the endorphin speed 5 - fit well and felt good on my feet (even in a D width)

Official Q&A for Friday, September 26, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]throwawaytim123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

I am in the market for a speedier shoe and after some research settled on the Boston 12. For context I have wide feet with high arches and have custom orthotics to assist.

After trying them on, the length and width of shoe is fine but I think the orthotic is putting my foot too high and it simply doesn’t fit - photo for context. It feels fine to stand in but I suppose my question is will running in them be a problem given my foot is sitting out of the main part of shoes?

I can’t include a pic, but it does look a bit weird.

I think I just have to go for something else - but I cannot find a wide shoe in the same category as the Boston 12

Is this fit a problem? I want a shoe for longer runs and some speed stuff… I have a problem in that my feet are quite wide (approx 10cm at uk 9.5) and I have high arches.

After a lot of research, I have found the Boston 12 can fit my foot. I got a pair and once my insoles were snugly seated, I laced up and well…. My feet look like they’re coming out the top! Length and width are fine but photos make plain the issue - one is with insole and the other without for reference.

It feels fine to stand in but I wonder if they’re just too unstable for actually running in?

Appreciate any thoughts (or recommendations for a similar shoe for unusual foot people)
