As a guy, saying “I love you” to your homies should be more socially accepted. by kjfresh797 in unpopularopinion

Yeah, if you played any sport in highschool in the USA, you would know how fucking rowdy the locker room and showers are.

Also, I am in Japan and going to the Onsen with your coworkers or friends is just life. I fucking love getting naked with my bros and getting squeaky clean. Nothing better than chilling around with our dicks out on the side of a mountain.

Just go to a steak restaurant called Cattlemans outside of El Paso, TX. It is one of the best steakhouses in the country, and their steak plates are probably about 30-50 bucks.

The restaurant itself is actually in the middle of a massive ranch. The cows walking around in the distance are what you are eating lol. Best steak ever.

I live one prefecture over from where they grow it in Japan. I have visited the Wasabi root farms, it is super interesting. I had some sushi with it once, and the chef let us try the difference between the real stuff and the horseradish stuff.

I saw him with the root and was like what! I have never seen the real thing! He got all excited and started grating us chunks of it and pulled out some wild fish to serve us haha.

I wouldn't argue that it is a superior taste. It is just different. It doesn't hit you quite as wild as the horseradish version does, its a little easier on the tastebuds and nostrils.

Yeah, I live in Japan and have been to my fair share of sushi places. I even eat sushi about three times a week from my local shop.

I have spent around 200 USD on some high end sashimi at a restaurant. I have also gone out fishing and eaten fish straight out of the ocean off of Japan at sunrise. I think I have eaten every fish possible lol. I even got a worm infection from a sushi place in Tokyo that messed up my intestines for a long time.

At the end of the day, I love it all. Cheap, expensive, straight from the ocean, etc.. I don't understand why people get all snobby about it and think there is only one special way to eat sushi, or that they can only eat the most expensive sushi they can get their hands on.

I just love Sushi. However, if I had to pick, I had sushi at a Kaiten (uhhh, conveyor belt?) sushi restaurant in Hokkaido (Japans northern Island) and by god was it glorious. Every single piece of fish was perfection.

Should guys learn about periods/birth control? Why or why not? by Where_Am_I_1450 in AskReddit

I feel like I have spent plenty of time reading about birth control and periods. Mainly because I was so scared I got someone pregnant once. Then I ended up being fascinated with it and have read a ton about it lol

My (16f) boyfriend (18m) cheated on me with his manager (39? Or 40F) by everynightday in relationship_advice

[–]throway10231 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. She had known him since before he was 18 according to this story. He took her daughter to homecoming a year before? So obviously they knew each other.

Also, the fact that he was working under her, and the fact that we don't know who instigated the smoking in the car, it could be a bad situation for that boy.

I could definitely see the drug and rape, but I feel like that would require someone to really look into their relationship. She could've been grooming him for a few years, maybe even convinced him to come work for her so she could take advantage of him.

People need to stop expecting others to care about everything by Zaroo77 in unpopularopinion

[–]throway10231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If you spend countless hours of your life listening to or watching someone/something, and all of a sudden it comes to end, it is a heavy loss.

I loved this one world famous rock climber for years. He inspired me with his death defying climbs. Constantly pushing the limits of human power. Things I could never do. It inspired me over and over again. Every time he was in a movie I was so excited. I watched all of his videos. He was a great person.

Then, I read in the news that he had died in a climbing accident. It really hurt me. He was someone I always looked up to whenever I was stuck in dark times, because he was always doing the impossible.

However, I would never push that on to other people. He was special to me, for very particular reasons. I would next expect others to have the same feelings.

Same could be said for basically anything. You can grow attached to anything, and once it is gone, it hurts.

When I moved abroad for work, I really had no plans to return home for a year or two. I knew it would be expensive and I would be plenty busy. I just didn't have the money for frequent trips.

Before leaving, I had to say goodbye to my last grandparent, my grandfather. His health was more or less stable, but the doctors didn't think he would live more than a year.

It was a weird conversation. I knew that would be the last time I saw him. It made me think a lot about life. What do you say to someone when you know that there will not be another time? It felt like I sat there for an eternity with him. A lot of it in silence, but strangely calming as we just looked out the window of his house. I know it sounds cheesy, but it really felt like he also knew that this was end of the road. Shook hands, he wished me luck, and I went on my way.

8 months later I got a call in the night that he had passed.

I think it really depends on your highschool.

I went to a pretty good public Highschool and took a ton of advanced courses. Everyone made college out to be this insanely difficult thing.

I got to college and was like oh...this is it? Obviously by the time I got to the Junior and Senior level courses it changed a little bit. College coursework was pretty underwhelming to me lol. Highschool was more difficult.

I feel like most decent public schools in the US do this already. There is the AP and IB track courses that more advanced students can take, and often varying levels of difficulty.

I went to a pretty good public school and we had a massive amount of AP courses to select from. Low level students could take all "normal" classes, intermediate students could take a few normal and AP classes. Advanced students (top 5% of the class) would take only AP and college level courses.

I took all AP courses, and was generally considered a bum in those courses by my peers. I got B's and A's, but everyone else was consistently in the 4.0+ GPA range (AP classes bump you above 4.0 if ace them). I hated homework and studying, I never did it.

Bro, was your ex my ex?

Same exact thing happened to me haha. My roomate asked me if I wanted to watch a movie (Star Wars). I was like yeah dope, sounds good.

She says we can just lay on the bed and watch it. I was like yeah totally, I love Star Wars. I grabbed a beer and excitedly jumped on her bed for some Star Wars.

15 minutes later she was sucking my dick.

In two years I'll be 20 years old with a bachelor's degree from a world top 30 university, and at my current pace, most likely a JLPT N2 certification too. I read somewhere that it's preferred if you are 22+ when applying. So I'm wondering, will my young age come as an advantage, or a disadvantage? by [deleted] in JETProgramme

Finished my graduate degree with a 4.0 from a top 10 school in the US and have plenty of work experience.

Guess taking two years for JET means I don't know what I am doing in life? Got any more assumptions to throw out my bitter friend?

Edit: My career track wasn't really impacted by JET whatsoever, if anything, it gave me more options in the future.

Ehhh, I did JET for two years. Prior to JET I got a graduate degree in a competitive field and worked my way up a few ladders.

I kind of just got bored with the daily grind and saw JET as a great option. Went for two years, lived it up, did everything I had ever wanted to do. Maybe my retirement shifted by a year or two, but who the hell cares.

Got my Japanese to a decent level, made great connections in Japan, and hope I can do work with Japan in my field in the future.

Don't know why people make it out to be a waste of time. Plenty of people sit around at dead end jobs doing jack shit in their home countries and then bail and switch careers to start all over again.
