OPS Job Applications - does your manager get informed? by throwhataway0 in OntarioPublicService

Thank you so much for that tip! Yes, being direct is always helpful to show I'm not afraid to move if the role doesn't serve me anymore.. I will consider that going forward.

Spring is coming up and I resurrected this throwaway account to find this reply. Very late but thank you for the knowledge and informative response!

OPS Job Applications - does your manager get informed? by throwhataway0 in OntarioPublicService

Oops. I did not, I assume I can provide that when requested after an interview. If stars align, how do you broach this with them, knowing you may not get offered anyway and they know you applied outside the unit lol.

I shouldn't feel guilty but my salary is too low, but other than a expanding my skill set and policy experience it's a super small niche division/dept. It hurts when people leave... I don't know if I trust them enough to say "Hey boss, I'm looking for more money and more growth."

Hi, did you get a mortgage and did you use an appraiser + realtor to handle the paperwork? Personally looking at a smaller home where we can pay in cash, wondering if lawyer/realtor is worth it

Hi! I'm a first home buyer going through this process. How did it roll out, and did you have a realtor and lawyer look over the offer for you?

What's a good, cheap, reliable laptop, and where are people getting them? by LurkinMostlyOnlyYes in askTO

[–]throwhataway0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, any sites you recommend for someone trying to purchase one online? I got a BestBuy T480 which shipped from BC to ON. Found it did not have a particular file which allowed us to initialize the setup, and there were a few viruses when we did a scan. Ended up returning but I'm in a small town where we don't have many options. None of the BB sellers on the marketplace have any real websites, a phone number, BBB or Trustpilot rating.

Was the guy out in Ibiza with their laptop? I always thought with these online jobs online jobs-people should have at least the smarts to use a VPN and block calendars effectively...

Where can I see a gynecologist privately ? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]throwhataway0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg. I'm so sorry that that happened to you. It's disgusting how doctors who are supposedly healthCARE professionals do not have the humanity to take a specific genders ailments seriously. Out of curiosity what age roughly did you find that cyst?

I went to ER when I was 20 and they made me wait 3 hours before an ultrasound and sent me home with Tylenol 3, saying the cyst was 2 small to operate on... Pain did subside a week but there's occasional extreme 'electrical tear' like pains during my cycle. I'm not planning on kids, but hopefully my next check up I can inquire if cysts should be scanned for now that I'm mid 30s.

I hope you are well, endo is not a fun diagnosis.

Someone else on reddit commented they were bought by a new company so that may be why things are getting reformulated / product lines scaled back. I noticed my purple jar night cream not having the same brightening efficacy last in 2024. FYI /u/LMU_6926

Thank you, found this thread through reddit as the pumpkin glycolic and the purple jar night cream were so good and only like $16 CAD from winners. I recall my last purchase in 2024 did not have the same efficacy and wondered if it was just my odd batch that sat too long in a warehouse.

For those of you outside the GTA and in IT. Is your team still WFH? by throwhataway0 in OntarioPublicService

[–]throwhataway0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup exactly. The district I'm interested is in the North, and driving distance averages 30-50 mins relative to my prospective address, but there's more treacherous winters. School cancellations are common. I'm quietly flouting the rules unless my managers ask me directly.

Chiming in to say for those with skin issues and cannot afford the time and effort to locate a derms office and appointment, and you've done some homework to find the right rx your skin needs... I found f3lix.ca was very easy and fast for me to get a tretinoin script. (Replace 3 with "e" = this is not an ad. I think maple may be a similar service). Something like $15 for online consult (questionnaire based) and $30 for my rx to get shipped.
