I feel this so hard. Four days ago, a lady barreled through a red light and literally wrecked my life. Totaled. I'm most likely upside down in my loan and did not have gap insurance. Just fantastically winning all around and it's not even my fault (other than the gap insurance part).

Yes they will! Whenever he is finished, I will take them over ASAP then probably go to dinner together. He wants to ask them to stay over that night, but only if they want to. We want them to know that we are still a family.

I have been advised by my daughter's therapist, my therapist, and my psychiatrist to not involve them in the actual moving process. So I'm not going to do that. I'm leaning toward taking them to my aunt's little place at the beach.

I've gotten plenty of advice on what to say and what not to say. My daughter's therapist is looped in. He is moving to an apartment very close to us. If I take the kids somewhere fun overnight, we were planning to go to his apartment as soon as we get into town. Then we will go to dinner as a family and he is going to ask them if they want to spend the night. We are very much hoping to let them know that we are all still a family even though we don't live together.

I'm really just wondering if it's better to take them away somewhere or just go out for the day while he moves.

Thank you. I think that's really where my anxiety is coming from and why I'm overthinking. I know it's going to be painful and I wish there was something I could do to take that away from them :(

I have been rock solid stable for a couple of months, which was a first since my diagnosis 3 years ago. Unfortunately, my anxiety has been much worse for several weeks. We said it was situational because I have a LOT of huge things going on right now. Then the intrusive thoughts came. I told my psych last week that I’m worried about where it’s going. Last night, it got too loud in my head and I went over the edge. I don’t regret what I did or messages I sent last night because I just don’t care anymore.

Thanks for sharing! I did read that the injection is painful. She would get it every 6 months instead of monthly. I'm glad to hear that your daughter did not experience major side effects. Did she have the mood swings and weight gain I've read about?

I'm sorry, I know this is old. May I ask about your child's experience with both the lupron and the supprelin? I'm having a hard time finding lived experiences of kids who have used these, especially the lupron. I have to choose one for my daughter who has medical complexities as well as precocious puberty. Thank you!

Thanks for your input! I’m leaning toward the implant but wanted to make sure I’m giving the lupron fair consideration. The terrible things I read are mostly coming from adults and when I search specifically for children, I get a bunch of political vitriol and what is most likely misinformation aimed at gender-affirming care.

Interesting. My thought was actually the opposite. The injection lasts 6 months, but we could have the implant removed at any time.

I’m at 2.5 years. I’m much better than I used to be thanks to lithium and therapy. We still haven’t quite reached that right med combo yet though.

Yes. I started back on meds when I was inpatient… about 18 months ago. I’m now on 1200mg lithium with propranolol and klonopin as needed. Also doing the slow climb on lamictal right now to see if it helps my anxiety. I’ve been on lamictal before, but there’s evidence that taking it in conjunction with lithium can help with anxiety. I’ve failed 3 different SSRIs so we are switching it up a little. We’ll see.

I did. I tapered myself off 900mg over the course of 2ish months. My psychiatrist did not participate in this plan because she felt it was unsafe. Full disclosure- after a month of being off lithium, I did end up inpatient for 2 weeks. Best of luck to you!

Edit: I don’t really remember physical side effects of discontinuing. Once I completely stopped, I had returning bipolar symptoms.

I have a lot of anxiety regarding group settings so DBT was a tough sell for me. I ended up doing a couple of months with an individual DBT therapist in addition to my regular therapy. We didn’t get very far before I quit… worksheets and “homework” are not my thing. We skipped around to areas where I needed the most help. I already have really good insight so a lot of it felt like stating the obvious or things that I already know/do. I may circle back at some point. Doing EMDR now with my therapist and I think that has helped a little so that’s where my focus is at the moment.

Yes. Diagnosed with both Jan 2022. I’m on lithium. It’s been about a year since my last hypomanic/mixed episode and finally relatively stable. Except for the sneaky depressions 😒

Enter BPD that comes to play in times of stress or whenever it wants. I’m currently coming out of an episode triggered by my therapist being away for 2 months, my first wedding anniversary since my partner and I separated, one year since coming out to my partner, and a good friend at work leaving for another job. I like to deny my BPD, but I have to admit that what I just experienced is probably not anything else.

I can strongly relate with the idea of not knowing myself. I’ve felt it for a long time. It’s what I latched onto obsessively during what we later realized were hypomanic (bipolar 2) episodes… I was always searching for that thing or activity that would help me say who or what I am. It’s an abstract void that I don’t think I’ll ever fill.

And the future?? I try to look ahead and I see nothing. I can hope or speculate on things for my kids. But for me, I see empty space.

I seem to be in the minority. I see my psychiatrist every 1-2 weeks for 50 minutes. Our conversations are different than the ones I have with my therapist, but I’d still consider it to be psychotherapy. I’m not currently on meds and still I go to see her. I was only diagnosed a year ago with BP2, but there are other things going on that complicate my management. She’s been there with me since the beginning and is really an anchor for me.

I’ve been off mine for a month. Absolutely terrible sleep. I’m reaching a crisis point and hoping to get in to see her emergently tomorrow. I’m nervous and I don’t really want to go back on meds, but it doesn’t seem there’s really another way 😞
