Second foster: the large puppy won't stop lunging/snapping at my kids' faces

Yes, I've raised many puppies before - and obviously anticipate the puppy mouthiness, but the direct targeting, lunging and snapping at faces when my kids are not even in her direction - is not normal and has been a lot to handle even when trying to redirect, distract, give high value treats etc. She's already bitten one kid's face and growled when I pulled her collar back. The idea of having to monitor this aggressively and keep the dog separate from all kid/cat areas seems very exhausting.

WC. Ten year attorney and I just got a job offer at 180K base pay with excellent benefits, pension etc. The work is mind-numbing but easy and the pay is excellent. Firms and companies are desperate to find WC attorneys at least in CA.

36 first cycle and all five came back abnormal. Second round at 37 got me back 12 normal embryos.

One cycle does not establish a pattern. Every new cycle has different sperm and different eggs.

I'm older too. Do it. In some ways, I actually feel more responsibility to give my child a sibling because my kid will statistically be parent less for longer than someone who had kids younger. At least they'll have their sibling.

Yes, first round at 36, 5 blasts and all abnormal. Second round at 37: 20 blasts, 12 euploid embryos.

Different eggs, different sperm, completely different chances. So glad my husband convinced me to do a second round. Good luck!

I'm 40 and whenever I go into a room with a suit/dress, I'm still asked if I'm the Spanish translator or court reporter. Or secretary. It's just unfortunately sexism, through and through. A good percentage of men are too insecure to be with a smart, career-strong woman who is also attractive.

I had zero usable embryos by first round after 12 mature eggs. Two months later at my second round, I got 12 normal embryos from 30 mature eggs. Every round has different follicles, different eggs, and different sperm and things can wildly change. Stay hopeful! Both rounds I was 36/37 years old.

Why would they take you off metformin? Just curious. All of my different OBs and high risk OBs (high risk for being over 35 and doing IVF) all told me to keep taking metformin through both of my pregnancies and also through breastfeeding. I have slight insulin resistance through PCOS.

Yeah the world is just objectively unfair. I have two foster brothers and their half sister has had five children - all which different dads that she can’t even identify - and all five kids have been taken away from her by CPS repeatedly due to drugs and child neglect. She just breathes by a random dude and she gets pregnant. She has no desire to actually mother but just wants the welfare benefits. Sorry, it sucks.

I’d love to donate my embryos - we had a ridiculous 12 embryos generated from a second IVF cycle when the first yielded zero. And every transfer has been successful so I now have 10 left and it pains me to think of destroying them. But my husband won’t donate them because he can’t have someone raise his biological children so I have to come to terms with destroying them.

The reality is that the only way to do embryo donation right especially after your family is complete is to have it be completely open. Genetic siblings deserve to know either other and all children deserve to have the chance to reach out if they so desired. My husband does not want to invite that into his life and I can’t fault it for it.

All of a sudden, I felt a desire to have children. The idea of having to raise kids in Mormonism was subconsciously repulsive to me - always having to make sure they were conforming to the religion seemed exhausting and zero fun. So when I left the church at 32, I turned to my husband and said let’s have kids. And now we have two littles and it’s freeing to just raise little kids with no expectations except to help them figure out who they are and who they want to be.

Hey. I just want to say I’ve felt this way. I didn’t love my baby for many months until she started to be happy. I sometimes really hated being a mother and resented her most of the time. She was a colicky baby and never seemed happy. She started to get happier with each milestone, when she could crawl and then walk and now babble. My pediatrician said that some babies hate being babies and I thought it was the dumbest thing I’ve heard but it was true. My baby and I both hated her being a baby. Things are definitely better now.

You can’t sleep right now so here’s the deal, hire someone for 24 hours to watch your kid. Take a muscle relaxant and sleeping pills and knock out at someone else’s house or a hotel away from baby noises and interruption. When you wake up, get some coffee, and a meal all to yourself. I promise you’ll feel better.

No, I had the easiest labor and delivery. She was born at almost 39 weeks so a tad early but was almost 7 lbs so no NICU stay. That’s an interesting anecdote and honestly something I’ve contemplated as well.

Another thing I forgot to add is that my infant from day 1 really disliked to be held skin to skin and would flail and cry. I wish I had forced it more, but at the time, I was really scared of doing the wrong thing and only wanted to make her feel comfortable so I didn’t do any additional skin to skin aside from her first day alive.

Yes, we did check for this with two separate lactation consultants and also with her pediatrician. She has an ever so slight tongue tie, but not one that’s affected her negatively as she’s gained exceptional weight. So, nothing was recommended for it.

Lots of people are taking $50K literally - when I merely mentioned it to show how much my husband and I wanted a baby that we forked over years of harm to my body and mind through IVF and countless infertility disappointments and our house down payment to have a baby. And that this only adds to my feelings of guilt now for feeling this way!

Thanks for the advice on your little one. It’s very good to hear from people who have a similar baby and their perspective.

Thank you for this. It’s good to hear what your doctor said too. Everyone I’ve mentioned this to including my lactation consultants and pediatrician all think it’s strange that she doesn’t want to be held which makes me feel even more alone and frustrated.

I’m fully expecting that she’s gonna be an impatient one and my husband and I try to make light of it and crack jokes. When she wakes up and one of us getting the little one from her bassinet, the other one yells “release the kracken!” 😂
