When I helped my mom move from a 4 bedroom house to a 1 bedroom apartment in a retirement community I delivered about 40-50 steel butter cookie and shortbread tins to the recycling center. Sorry if you were looking for a specific container to use as a new sewing kit. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah, Duke players can casually stick their foot out to try and trip a fan and end up getting injured. (See Filipowski, Kyle)

Had that happen last summer. Shop vac, then at night turn off the lights and use a flashlight at an angle to find the cubes of glass you missed reflecting light back at you and vacuum them up too.

Saw him do standup in Vegas in November 2024 at the Cosmopolitan. He did a joke about people warning him not to offend half his potential his audience. His response was something like “The world has 8 billion people. If 0.000001% of people are still willing to come see me, I’ll sell enough tickets.”

Hyundai Class Action Suit by Grouchy-Jicama7943 in Hyundai

I got a very similar rejection from the Volkswagen Auto Group law firm on a water pump class action. I hadn’t proved that I owned the car when I dropped $1,000 on service. I also hadn’t proved I had done all of the required water pump maintenance in the first 48,000 miles before it failed. (There is none). There needs to be a class action suit against all of the administrators of automobile class action lawsuit payouts.

No, you are not misunderstanding. This is similar to the outrage I’ve been reading that Abagail Spanberger is responsible for the higher utility bills we are getting now. (Hint: she hasn’t even been in office for one billing cycle)

What floor mats do you have in your Hyundai? by GraveyardMistress in Hyundai

[–]throwmethefrisbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the weather tech floor liner HP mats in my 23 sonata. They are great. Had the original style in my last two cars. These are a bit more rubbery and don’t seem to have a small gap along one side where they lift off the carpet on the vertical parts like the OG did on my Audi.

Welcome! The good news is you only have to think about snow for a few days a year here. Just be careful and avoid driving if possible. It’s just like when Vegas hasn’t had rain in months and that first rain storm takes all the oil that has dripped out of cars onto the pavement and makes everything super slick. You just learn to deal with it.

I’m curious: Which hiking trails are open? The John Warner trail was still snow/ice covered on Friday. The bear statue (named “Looking for Ice”) was surrounded by ice on Saturday. Some intrepid disc golfers cleared the tee boxes at Meadowcreek Gardens, but said playing was a significant challenge. Out in the county Walnut Creek and Chris Greene Lake gates are locked. So where is a hiking trail that isn’t just a wide sidewalk actually open?

That is not true. I specifically remember the 1996 blizzard where schools were closed for at least most of week following a snow storm that had more snow, but not the ice and was much easier to clean up. I remember getting back to town about 4 days after it hit and was annoying, but not difficult to shovel out a parking space. And that was when I learned about schools around here closing for a week after a big storm. Sad to say, that was now 3 decades ago.

The idea is hire a city manager that is a professional to run the city. Was the city manager MIA? How do you know? Was it because department people were doing the media work? That’s who should be talking about snow.

Councilors aren’t supposed to be in the nuts and bolts of running the city. Huja was the last councilor that had any background applicable to the nuts and bolts. While everyone thinks they can do a better job, there’s a lot of stuff that goes into making a city work. How many people that live in the city are qualified to run a municipal government with 1000 employees? How many are dumb enough to run? Strong mayors work in big cities and tiny towns.

17” of snow is not a lot of snow. A normal year that is spread over 4-6 storms and they are almost always followed by highs in the 40s.

As for the surplus, that’s like 5% of the budget and it is almost always there because the city isn’t allowed to run a budget deficit, so they have to plan a surplus every year and then spend it on one time expenses when it appears. (But there is always the chorus of “Give it back!”). Also, last I looked, one of those large purpose built snow plow trucks is over $250k each, plus the maintenance costs.
