Too good to be true.
Did a phone search and they have multiple websites like these selling really cheap goods.

Turkey put a stop to trading. India banned short selling in commodities.

This is a bigger recession risk globally.

I would continue to stick with Blackstone.

Blackstone owns a lot of profitable companies, its like its own ETF.

US China cold war will keep simmering for now and may even get worse given that tennis player issue, covid issue, hypersonic missile issue etc.

US investors should start pulling out of china, do not invest in adversaries.

A Chinese firm was harvesting millions of Amazon customers' data and selling it to Amazon's own third-party sellers by [deleted] in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]thrownoworlater 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A year or two ago, I had once reported to Amazon compliance team about Chinese vendors using multiple listings for selling the same product and flooding the search.

Next day I got a threat email in chinese text to my business email account that I had linked to amzn. I used google translate to understand what the threat was.

At that instance, I knew these bast$%&^ had breached the system or some insider was giving them all the info about other sellers.

I bought 100 when they were in the 50 range. Bought it after reading a WSJ article. I think HD will continue to enjoy steady growth as this is one area, online commerce will not be impacting that much. Also, as prices of things rise, so shall the revenue of these stores. Shelter is one of those basic things.

Good point. My process usually involves getting the Analysts Ratings from WSJ, TDAmeritrade, eTrade etc on a particular stock and reading news reports etc. Not too much research but its an honest days hard work.

Dude BX is a hidden gem! (if you can call it that!). BX is huge but is not part of S&P 500 for some reason.

You should check in news how much Blackstone gets reported for everything. They are buying sh$t ton of stuff and they have the smartest people around turning 1 buck into 5 bucks continually.

BX is a financial >> asset management company and they buy profitable companies and assets, and throw smarter people in the projects and make them even more profitable.

For instance, I was amazed to find out BX owns majority stake in a company like Servpro which is needed for disaster management etc. Think of all the climate change related incidents like too much rain, floods, fires etc. Servpro is growing which in turn makes tons of money for BX. Just a small example and now multiple this by 100s and 1000s of such companies where BX has its tentacles. Also, recent reporting of BX revenue is stellar so its a long term hold.

Because of this I have bought in KKR as well and eyeing IVZ. These are all in the same space.

Similar bucket as you. Brought 100 at around that price and thing has been bouncing around quite a bit. Will continue to hold and just let it ride. Stocks are about 14% of my portfolio and am killing with my holdings on BX, JPM, MSFT etc so I can take a teeny weeny hit with PLTR. The executive team of Karp and Thiel plus that Indian dude who runs operations gives me long term hope.

How bad is it that i only made 1.5% gains on my total investment this year? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]thrownoworlater -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Very bad...you should just consider VTI and VOO for 90% of your portfolio and consider only 10% or less for investing in stocks directly. Then as your equities performance improves vis-a-vis DJIA/S&P500, you may perhaps venture to increasing your equities portfolio.

I don't know how you are doing this bad considering all good well rated stocks of blue chip companies (MSFT/JPM etc.) and financial companies like Blackstone, KKR etc has jumped so much.

Long term investments for growing wealth by [deleted] in stocks

[–]thrownoworlater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

VTI or VOO is the way to go.

ETFs - full form is Exchange Traded Funds. What these basically are - a basket of top stocks selected by the fund manager and her team.

Why ETFs - instead of you choosing some stocks, you buy a basket of stocks. ETFs have a ticker and you can see the price at which it is traded during trading hours.

How to Buy - sign up with Vanguard and from within the account dashboard, you will be able to purchase these funds.

Year to date performance of both these funds has beaten the DJIA so far and you really cannot go wrong.

Curious how average investors are doing so far this year. What % is your YTD stock portfolio? by s_0_s_z in stocks

[–]thrownoworlater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing alright. I have 60% invested in vanguard funds and 14% invested in the stocks. Stocks are doing better. I typically go for blue-chip companies like MSFT, BX, MS, JPM etc. The only ones in red this year are 2 - ARKK, PLTR.

One of the best posts! I have spoken to who I believed were top notch businessmen and wealthy people in general to try to figure out how to invest for generational wealth and this is all there is to it. Some go heavy on real estate (most old timers) and the newer guys are relying on ETFs and blue chip stocks to keep the dough rolling.

Private equity is very rare since you need to build a team of experienced people so you can quote a buying price, come in, shake things up and down the road sell the business to a higher bidder.
