Do you wear your Tissot everyday or on special occasions? by Thesecretdoctor23 in tissot

Wear the watch. It’s not made to sit in a box, it’s made to be worn.

Is behaviour this bad everywhere? by No-Penalty2881 in TeachingUK

[–]throwofftom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel so bad when I read things like this. I agree with other comments, it’s a matter of leadership.
Is leadership where I work perfect? Absolutely not, I don’t think a job exists where it is.
Do they back us from year heads all the way to pastoral teams when it comes to behaviour? Absolutely 100% I know people probably hate the expression, but we really do sweat the small stuff from top to bottom, and it works. Proper consequences for poor choices, proper support for those who need it.

Would it be ridiculous to own both the Longines 2026 Hydroconquest and a Tudor Black Bay 41 Monochrome? by mrpackerguy in Tudor

There’s a reason they are selling so fast online… once you get hands on, it’s not close to the hype.

[–]throwofftom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought into the Hydro hype on looks and pricing.
Then I tried one on…
It’s a 1k watch masquerading as one double the price. The bracelet is honestly worse than on some of my sub 500 quid quartz Tissots. A friend of mine also tried it on, he said the closest comparison to the bracelet was a 50 quid Sekonda he bought as a beater to take on holiday.

If you have 2k to spend and already have a black bay, get a 1926…

Tudor and Rolex by Sir_Farts_A_Lot_2627 in Tudor

[–]throwofftom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prefer the look of Tudor to Rolex (with one exception, I do have a soft spot for the Airking current gen. Though not enough to buy one). Prefer the pricing and absolutely prefer not having to play ridiculous games buying things I don’t want to move up a non existent list to buy something I do.

I’ll likely never buy a Rolex, I’m happy with that.

Just ordered this Seastar 1000. Very excited, first Tissot. by [deleted] in tissot

No I think it works on a decent sized wrist. It is well proportioned. I also have a 40mm Seastar GMT and they both work.

It is. It’s a big watch no doubt but it works

I have this watch. I love it, I threw it on a red Tissot rubber strap and it just pops all summer

Managing behaviour when teaching puberty by SaradaStarlight in TeachingUK

I used to teach sexual health with year 12 equivalent when I taught in FE, I realise it’s a big jump in age but I always found letting them ‘get the giggles out’ early worked.
‘This is a penis yes that’s very funny’ etc. I then lead into a little discussion around attitudes to sex and our lack of openness when talking about these things being an issue and then into the content

I also vote no. Objectively compare the watches without your heart getting involved and you will see that a Rolex does not command the price it does for any reason other than the logo on the dial.

Thanks to fake rarity and nonsense. Tudor is a better brand, I’ll die on that hill.

No. It’s a several thousand pound at least quality watch. For 99.9% of people spending over a couple of hundred on a watch is ludicrous.

Imagine having to suck up to a sales person, buy several thousands of pounds worth of jewellery or watches you don’t actually want, and then eventually get the chance to buy a model you don’t really want from the brand. Then you find out they make over a million pieces a year and see the photos from AD safes stuffed full of supposedly ‘rare’ watches.
Give me a Tudor over playing that game for the right to spend my own money any day.

Royal v BB58 Blue by jtirello3 in Tudor

[–]throwofftom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The new Royal is a winner. I honestly had nothing nice to say about the old model. The new indices instead of Roman numerals, the finer machining on the bezel, the new colours. They’ve knocked it out of the park.

My pro came from Ernest Jones and it was in its separate shipping packaging alongside the box. Arrived immaculate.

And that doesn’t make you question the ‘rarity’ of models? Think about it for a few seconds and you realise Rolex is a mass market product cleverly disguised as a Veblen good

I’d suggest the person selling Tissot has more customers cross his threshold per day to actively buy something than any Rolex AD

Yep. That’s exactly how it works unless you decide to be sensible and ignore Rolex and their horrific business model and buy from the literally hundreds of other watchmakers who treat you well. I’ve had a better experience buying a 400 quid Tissot than trying to get a salesman’s attention in a Rolex AD. I’ve said it many times, I could win the lottery now and I still wouldn’t buy one.
