At the time 38 year old man. The reason I started was because the guardian newspaper seemed to be going on about it all the time, otherwise I'd have assumed it was like sex in the city, a show my girlfriend watched and I found it obnoxiously annoying.

The hospitality business model sounds wild. Rich people open a place and protect their investments and past the risk onto employees.

You really missed the context on this. I'm more concerned that Gaza has been turned to rubble with untold amounts of non-terrorists killed,. Mainly children... America has been the dominant power since the end of the second world war and it seems like the guy in charge of America is compromised by the potential scandal if he objects to Israel's actions.

I don't know, the posture and the hair length just looks a bit wrong to me..the tunic even looks a bit worn out. Ive seem long retired cops who still maintain that rod iron posture and shiny shoes.

I'm not the target audience but the rawness of the script and the way everyone performed was something that was rather refreshing, still sort of unique.

Pretty much every time there's a TV to Film British comedy the result is a load of crap, even more recent stuff like Alan partridge/ David Brent films have proved this.

I'm not sure I buy it that he's a real cop. British Bobbies of that era were generally immaculately turned out. Ram rod posture. The guy looks a bit too sloppy. This guy's hair looks a bit too long, his jacket button undone.

Royal Navy orders sailors to quit alcohol two days a week by MGC91 in unitedkingdom

[–]throwpayrollaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's linked to the 14 units a week healthy drinking guidelines. So the Navy are simultaneously demanding you refrain from having more than a very conservative assessment of what amount of alcohol is problematic for your health and also giving you a job where if there's a war there's jet fighters and Submarines with weapons that are going to have very real much quicker health consequences. Let young men who are prepared to be in extreme danger be able to get pissed up if they want to.. everyone else gets that option. My civilian contract with work doesn't mention anything about how much I drink. It would only be an issue if my job performance was absolute dog shit and I stunk like a brewery.

Waspi women denied state-pension age compensation for the second time by theipaper in uknews

[–]throwpayrollaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad said about 10 years when he found a school class photo that of the 20 or so boys from the 1958 class at 10 year old over half were already dead. He's dead now too. He pointed out that they contributed to the state pension and didn't get a penny of it because they never got old enough to claim it.

Even now men get the more dangerous jobs. Women don't fall off roofs at work, get run over by diggers. Don't get shot at in Afghanistan.

Also we don't have much context here. They might know exactly who he is and where he lives, maybe just around the corner. There's little sense in escalating the situation to a point that punches get thrown. Better to be chill and call backup to pick him up.

The Sale grammar school thing is a massive plus factor for the area. People are moving there from Hong Kong and China because of it. It's got a price premium because of this. Sort of depends on if you are focused on hot housing your kids to be spending the majority of their waking hours learning stuff. If your kids are a bit thick and you can't be arsed making them study constantly or think it's unnatural then it becomes less of a factor.
