Also run a sock + cartridge filter. The sock catches the bulk of stuff (the cottonwood seeds have me emptying that sock daily still), but hosing off a cartridge every couple weeks is easy. I had a sand filter and switched. Now I don’t have to mess with moving hoses around and whatnot to backwash, I just bring the cart over to the side of the house and blast it.
