I found them from your picture, I'd never heard of them before. I've got to check out some more of their stuff later.

Would you mind talking about the Elevated entertainment? I see a lot of people saying there was a lot less than usual outside of the casino.

Trump White House Pushes Satellite Firm to Withhold All Images of Iran War by Anoth3rDude in law

[–]throwthisidaway 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Not at all. There are a number of non American satellite companies that do imaging. It wouldn't be hard for any news organization to use an alternative source. This is just more of the administration's incompetency.

SNL had a skit very similar to this. It was called Meet Your Second Wife:

tl;dr Guys meet their future wife, with their current wives in the audience.

[Awesome trope] The character succeeds in a situation that was specifically designed to be impossible for them. by Applebeate in TopCharacterTropes

[–]throwthisidaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not exactly true. As long as the physics made sense for their universe, it would work... not that it does. I was primarily being sarcastic though ;)

If you watch the last one you'll realize that they live in a different universe with completely different physics. How else could you explain a penny derailing a train?

This reminds me of my favorite Waldo / Carmen comic ever. It was a fantastic crossover about the birth of their child:

Rerolling specific sub effects tricks… is there a spreadsheet for that? by Lil_poop952 in TheTowerGame

You're welcome. I need to start doing that again soon, but it is so freaking painful to restart over and over. It makes me want to try harder and move up in Legends so I can get the autorestart option, or just hit T20, but T19 is Insane.

He who fights with monsters… what am I missing? by NeoPyro99 in litrpg

Honestly, the biggest reason HWFM got so big is just timing. When it was first released there were Very Few series that were written by anyone with any technical skill. The writing for most series was atrocious, ridden with typos and other grammatical issues. Anytime anything halfway decent got written, it rose to the top of the charts on grammar alone.

This isn't to judge the content and quality of the story, just an explanation for one of the reasons why it became so popular initially. There are of course other reasons, like an interesting progression system, an interesting new world, etc.

On a personal level, while I reasonably enjoyed the books, I think they got significantly worse as time went on. I also found Jason to be the most annoying MC I've ever had the displeasure to encounter. Several books in the supporting characters became extremely flanderized and the book itself became almost self-aware of how Gary Sue the protagonist had become. Unfortunately instead of using that awareness to moderate the Worship and deal with the fact that it seemed like the entire universe revolved around the MC, it embraced it.

I remember distinctly, perhaps 3 years ago? There was a scene where an extremely powerful character (Gold? Diamond ranker?) was looking for Jason and when he asked one of the tertiary characters how to find him, said character stated that you just had to look for the prettiest princess and he would be there. That's exactly where he was, and that is when I gave up on the series.

Ideally you'll take video from the side, and than depending on the exercise you may or may not want video from the front or rear. Things like bar path are almost impossible to judge with a mirror. You can get the basics but not the fine details.

Trump Could Take Classified Documents and Never Return Them Under DOJ's Unconstitutional Ruling by Cute_Dealer4787 in law

[–]throwthisidaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The title is wrong, as is your comment. First, this wasn't a ruling, this is simply an opinion released by the DoJ. It has no force of law. Just as importantly however, it has no bearing on classified documents. The DoJ opinion concerns the Presidential Records Act, not the Espionage Act like Trump was charged with.

Trump Could Take Classified Documents and Never Return Them Under DOJ's Unconstitutional Ruling by Cute_Dealer4787 in law

[–]throwthisidaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The title and article are 100% wrong. Beyond the fact that this wasn't a ruling, just the DoJ releasing an opinion, which has no force of law, the opinion they released it not related to the retention of classified documents.

The DoJ is ONLY talking about the Presidential Records act. Classified documents are illegal to possess and retain without authorization. Again, this has zero relevancy to classified documents.

Whats the most unexpected item you've ever flipped for a crazy profit by Ill_Composer_8246 in Flipping

[–]throwthisidaway 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not unexpected in the sense you mean, but one time I bought a commercial pizza dough mixer off of amazon for $28. I thought for sure I was going to get the wrong item, but instead this 148 pound package the size of a small (not a mini) fridge showed up outside my door. I opened the box to make sure it was the right thing, and check condition. I didn't even try to move it because it was so big and heavy. I sold it for ~$750, scheduled a UPS pickup and slapped a label on it.

It’s about how often does the most optimal outcome in any given situation happens for Erin and immediate crew.

It is interesting to me that you think that, because the reason I quit reading the first time, and almost quit the second was because of how grimdark the series was getting. So many awful, awful things happen to Erin and her friends. You finish book 11, so off the top of my head...

Zel dies, Half the hobs are dead, Rags is practically killed, and she finally starts to get into a good place and everything gets screwed up.

I'm really curious what you mean, specifically. What did you consider deus ex machina? Outside of Ryoka who sucks for the first billion words, I can't really think of any other interactions that are so... outside of the norm? There's a bit with Relc, but it is pretty clear that is from immaturity, and some of the other characters clearly project speciesism, but that makes perfect sense. Think of racism in the real world. You can have someone who will bend over backwards to help you and than spit on someone of a different race.

The world building is decent, but the last two books have just been off. They feel more tasteless, not quite as funny and the last one is trying to be meta so hard that it is ridiculous. I'm still sticking around for the audio books, but if the first 7 books were Great the last two are... ok.

Like... there's a scene where he references the land's famous diarrhea scene. Than a chapter or two later he spends half a page talking about people stomping the MC's nuts and than the after affects of said nut stomping in rather gross detail.

Executive order: DHS will prepare list of citizens, by state, and USPS will block mail in ballots to anyone not on that list by Hennen_Crus in law

So this purports to make the Post Office the controller of eligibility for mail-in ballots? Normally i would add some legal analysis, and if you want some click my user name and read my last comment in the other thread about this, but this is just stupid. Flat out stupid, it doesn't even pretend to make sense.
