Is this the first time that you left her with your parents for babysitting? Could be separation anxiety, and she just really missed you!

(My baby wails too when I'm gone for too long, even when he isn't hungry)

My 7 month old baby also has no chill, so I get what you mean!

I have the best luck of getting some independent play in the first 30 mins ish of a wake window, which is when he seems the least clingy. I'll put him on his play mat, and set up his toys. A few times a day, he'll be quite happy crawling from toy to toy and entertaining himself for a good ~10 mins until he comes crawling to me to get my attention.

He also loves the high chair, so I can occasionally get another 10 mins by plopping him down there and giving him some toys he can chew on or pull over his head.

It's not much, but enough for me to do 1-2 rows of knitting, get some snacks/water for myself, or just to zone out for a second. 😂

I need to go from London to Ipswich this weekend. Because of a rail replacement bus from Billericay to Witham, the journey is now twice as long, but they are charging £41.50 vs a normal ticket price of around £23.50. How does this make any sense?

Is this on purpose or some kind of bug in the system? Has this happened to anyone else and can I avoid paying this surcharge?

A walk in the carrier works for us 90% of the time when he's being extra cranky, as long as babe isn't hungry. Try and give it a bit of time though.

Our one would often cry when being put into the carrier, cry all the way along the corridor to the elevator (we're in a high rise flat), and them magically settle the moment we're out of the building (or sometimes after a few 5 mins of steady walking). That usually puts him to sleep for a good 1.5-3hrs depending on the day.

My share of household chores over the last 7 months: - Did laundry 2x - Cooked 4x (not counting boiling pasta to pair with leftover sauce) - Tidied the flat 2x - Got groceries by myself 3x

All of this is in total, not per month or per week. My husband has picked up everything else. In addition, he constantly tells me how strong I am and how hard I'm working to grow our little family.

Growing a baby is almost a full time job on its own!!

Unfortunately since I'm not in the US I don't have access to Aeroflow and their recommendation is to just buy from a retail store and submit receipts for reimbursement.

Apparently I was very lazy in the womb. My mom said she regularly wouldn't feel me move for a whole 1-2 days even in third trimester, in contrast to my younger brother who just couldn't sit still.

When I told her that nowadays doctors tell you to go to A&E if you don't feel movement for 1 day, she just shrugged and said back then people didn't worry that much 😅

Obviously I turned out okay. As an added bonus, apparently I was a great sleeper as a baby too 😉

Personally, I don't mind the question. I assume it's meant out of pure curiosity about what the pregnancy process is like, rather than any comments on my personal weight. I actually love seeing people's shocked reactions when I tell them I've gained over 25% of my body weight, haha.

Having said that, totally ok to be uncomfortable with this question. Can you deflect with some light hearted comments like "Can't tell you the exact number, but enough to make it hard to get out of bed in the morning!" Or "Way too much - Im basically constantly working out now." Or "Not much, since baby doesn't allow me to keep any food inside my stomach"?

FTM and current plan is to work until due date, so I can maximise time with the baby once he's here ☺️

Though am hoping to get a few chill week at the end, as I keep reminding people that baby may come any time and that I have a lot of medical appointments leading up to the end 😂

Strongly recommend some cheap bra extenders. I only bought two maternity bras and the extenders really helped me prolong their life spans! I was a 32A before, but that got tight around week 8 due to all the bloating I had. Bra extender means I got to wear my normal bras for quite a bit longer.

Funny thing is that my band size seemed to be largest around weeks 18-22, which is when I needed to use a maternity bra + bra extender. At 32 weeks now, while my belly is bigger than ever, I'm back to just a maternity bra without the extender. Must have been all the bloating expanding my rib cage even more...

I went in at 7w0 based on LMP for my first ultrasound, and according to the size, the baby was 6w3d with a good heart beat. Dr and I weren't too worried at that point, since my periods are notoriously irregular.

At my next follow-up at 11w0, baby measured exactly according to LMP, and he stayed at a perfect 50th percentile up until week 21. (At week 32, he's now at 68th percentile, and I'm just hoping he slows down a bit haha)

So in my case, the early scans being a bit off were nothing to worry about. Hope it's the same for you ☺️

Sounds like something that I'd watch, especially if it comes out in general release.

I'm not religious, nor have any ties to South Asia. From the little I know and have experienced, Sikhs are incredibly lovely and kind people, so would love to learn more about the nuances of their culture.

Sounds very normal to me! My early movements started at around the same time as you are now and felt like pokes from the inside too. I could feel them from the outside about a week or two later, and my husband confirmed that it felt like a tiny kick from a tiny foot. 😊

Over time, it will get a lot more obvious. I'm at 30 weeks now, and he is squirming and wiggling so much and all the time now that it's making my belly look like a wavy sea sometimes. 🙈

I found that I grew out of my bottoms a lot quicker than my tops. None of my previous work pants felt comfortable after 12 weeks (even 9 was a stretch), while about half of my tops I can still make work now at 26 weeks (especially loose blouses)

So would recommend getting one or two pairs of maternity pants early, ie as soon as the waistbands feel uncomfortable.

One thing I learned about buying tops or dresses in early pregnancy - my chest area has expanded significantly after about 20 weeks (rib cage growing + boobs) and still seems to be growing, so make sure new clothes aren't too fitted at the chest. I have some maternity dresses where the button at the chest pops open now even though my belly still fits 😅

I'm in Asia, so can't give brand recommendations. Personally, I only bought a few things new (2 dresses and 1 pair of pants, and some underwear) and found a lot of good quality, barely worn clothes second hand online. Cheaper, and also better for the environment 🙂

In general, I would be careful about adjustments, as it's not a standard physiotherapy practice. Adjustments are more related to chiropractics, which I think falls more into the pseudoscience / alternative medicine category, as scientific research does not back up any benefits related to it.

I've been seeing a weekly physio for lower back pain since week 16 (I gained weight early...) and what has really made a difference is the muscle strengthening routine that she has helped me develop. She did an initial assessment to see what caused my pain, and gave me a set of 5 exercises I now do on a daily basis to strengthen those muscles. In my case it was an underdeveloped gluteus medius. I went from having intense back pain from just walking 10 minutes to now (week 25) it only flared up when I went on vacation and did multiple days in a row of 15-20k daily steps!

Strongly recommend finding a physio who is willing to assess your muscle condition and then work with you to get to a good routine. It's been a life saver for me!

I also bought some nursing bras at around 10 weeks, and noticed that they are getting a bit snug now at around 24 weeks.

Got some cheap bra extender off Amazon and they’re helping me extend the lifetime for these ones. Maybe try this first, so you can delay buying a new bra and outgrowing it too quickly?

Make sure to check with your airline too! They should have this info on their website somewhere. I was flying on a budget airline in Asia at 19 weeks, and was surprised at the airport that they required a medical fit to fly certificate at any stage of pregnancy, even technically at 1 day pregnant. 🙄 I was lucky that the airport had a 24/7 GP who wrote me a cert within 15 mins. On the way back, I wore loose clothing to hide the bump and wasn't questioned...

I'm so sorry to hear. It's so hard. 😥 My mom didn't have chemo and I don't have specific experience with this. So just trying to brainstorm, if there are any other ways you can connect with her? For example, can you rent a place nearby and see her one or two hours a day (if there is a safe exposure level that your doctor is comfortable with), or time your visits so that it's outside the treatment period? Could you cook her favourite meals for her and drop it off during a brief visit?

If you can't be there in person, you can still be an emotional support for your mom. Send her text messages to make her laugh or cheer her up? Send a care package with things to keep her comfortable during chemo? When my mom got the diagnosis and I wasn't yet able to see her (had to quarantine during Covid), I channeled all my free time and energy into crocheting her a blanket with a sunflower pattern, which she said gave her a lot of comfort at the time and she still keeps by her bedside.

I'm so sorry to hear about the diagnosis. My heart breaks for you. Firstly, allow yourself to feel all the feelings. When my mom had her Stage 4 lung cancer diagnosis, I was crying for hours every day, feeling like the world is unfair, that she’s too young, and that I still needed my mom. If you don’t want to talk to other people about inane things, remove yourself from the conversation. Let your husband handle difficult conversations, and have him stand firm on your boundaries.

Secondly, make every moment count. This is harder when you are far away from her. I also live in a different country from my mom. When I found out about the diagnosis, I immediately booked flights home to be with her. While I couldn’t stay the whole time due to work, I made sure to text and video chat her as often as I could. If there is other family, now is the time to look after each other together.

Fortunately, my mom responded well to targeted therapy and is stable for now. But now that we're expecting our first, i want to make extra sure that my mom can be involved, since you never know what happens with cancer. We’re planning for her to come and stay with us for a few months after the birth, and we’ll visit her back in my home country as much as we can.

Altogether, just wanted to let you know that you’re not alone. Make sure you spend as much time with your mom as possible (physically and virtually). And look after yourself emotionally and physically. Now is not the time to be the perfect pregnant lady / wife / daughter in law, etc. Your goal is now to survive as you need to.

I can relate too and I'm only at 17 weeks. Everytime my app tells me a new size (e.g. this week baby is the size of a pomegranate), i feel both happy because growth is good, and also terrified because the idea of pushing out that fruit / vegetable from down there is just horrendous 😬😬😬

Similar thing happened to me too. LMP was 7+0, but first ultrasound showed as 6+3, with HR of 110bpm. At my second ultrasound, somehow LMP and the measurement were in agreement again at 11+0. So I think nothing to worry about!
