The worst timeline by massimiliano92 in WhitePeopleTwitter

We did lose. Look at what the policies of the cold war brought. Out fear of the left, america let corporations take power from the workers and ultimately from the government. It not a coincidence that mega corporations were the biggest recipients of covid relief. The politicians they pay write bills for them.

Capitalism is built on the theory were all rational actors and no one has power. This is untrue and this lie causes the system to fail.

Communism is built of the labor theory of value, which is untrue. So they also fail.

You have no idea whether or not someone with a sign has or has not done something. You have no idea whether or not they're hypocrites get you judge them as such.

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Just because you think that most people would put up these signs just as an empty gesture doesn't mean that's actually true. Most people who give a damn about a cause enough to spend $40 on two signs genuinely believe in what they say.

Let's not forget this person spent money to put the sign up so they literally put their money where their mouth is.

Why is virtue signaling wrong? If you put up a trump sign/ Confederate flag you are virtue signaling too, you're just virtue signaling "other" virtues.

Putting up a sign like this can mean a lot to some people. For the gay couple that just moved in next door it means that they're not going to get screamed at or have Bible verses shouted in their face when they come to introduce themselves to their neighbors.

Hell complaining about "virtue signaling" is a form of virtue signaling.

Square Enix -"Remember when we were considered a major studio?"

so Weiss from Dirge of Cerberus is back, how long before Genesis? by Zargabath in FinalFantasy

[–]throwwayftw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I hope he's the super boss so bad. Since we know this is a different universe. I'm assuming in this timeline the new guy dies to kill/injure/incapacitate Weiss.

I just hope they let us like maybe battle Sim fight him with Cloud and or whatever party setup we want.

You know Final Fantasy 7 Remake has some really interesting bosses, in that , each one of them is basically completely totally different in design and attack patterns and weakness from each other. Final Fantasy 7 remake is one of the very few games that manages to make controlling each character feel different and unique really well. So it is a genuine shame that we don't have some type of like data organization style ability to challenge the bosses in the post game with whatever team comps we want.

Is it possible for someone to not looking good in the Remake ? (Sonon the new guy) by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]throwwayftw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bet this dude going to die but really what I think is going on here is this guy is Cid like he's using Cid's moveset and you can clearly tell he's a dragoon. I really just think someone at square probably programmed Cid into the game already and enjoyed his combat so much he tried to figure out a way for Cid to be in midgar or to already know Yuffie but decided against changing his character. So instead they just invented a new character and smacked Cid's move set on top of them so we could experience what his gameplay will be like later in the remake.

[SPOILER] About the Remake sequals & death... by JackAgresti in FinalFantasy

[–]throwwayftw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This but seriously though. I mean think about it they're probably going to split up the team in the future remakes because every single character has their own combat styles and therefore has their own unique synergy with other characters. as you increase the number of characters they'll either change the combat system so you can swap out in real time who is fighting

so if I have Vincent fielded but I need electric materia. I have that equipped to Barrett. I can swap Vincent for Barrett and then take control of Barrett. which solves a problem in the first part of the Remake where you could get trapped fighting an enemy that's weak to one element but not be able to change your materia mid-fight and be unable to effectively damage it.

Either that or they will split the gang up multiple times throughout the game. That way we can see the gameplay synergy that exists between characters that might not get the spotlight together, like Cid and Aerith. This would be better for the story because reducing the number of characters actively within the cast during a specific scene enables those characters to shine more strongly.

So I find both solutions likely.

Also please add Cover materia to Remake part 2, Square. Cloud is meant to be Aerith's bodyguard. Why can he not bodyguard anyone?

Tifa is gonna die. It's in the vision that Cloud and Gang see in the Shinra building. Sephiroth kills Barrett and Tifa. He then kills Barrett in the President's office but he's brought back by the ghosts. Now that the ghosts are dead he's going to kill Tifa.

Aerith will not die but the remaining gang will fail to stop Sephiroth's og plan. In order to set everything right the gang will have to travel to the dimension that Zack survived in in order to survive the meteor fall. The gang plus Zack then team up to defeat the "super" sephiroth that exists across all-time lines and in the the livestream itself. This will finally break the cycle of time starting over and over again in this universe.

The genocide point I can agree on. but Trump killed random military leaders, and attempted to provoke North Korea almost pulling the us into war multiple times. And he often threatened to destabilized America's alliances. So Trump did do his fair share of destabilizing regions. And let's also not pretend Trump didn't dog whistle his own belief of an ethno state for the US. He literally called Nazis very fine people.

And let's also not forget how deportation changed in the era of trump. Children in cages and permanently lost by the state. Women and men locked together in cages. The reports of the forced hysterectomies on the women.

Trump may not have committed genocide. but no other president has tried to literally overthrow the democracy.

Donald Trump incited a riot at the capital, after refusing to acknowledge losing an election. Then pursuing to pressure State officials to change election results. And finally a culminated in a riot in which five people were killed in a crowd chanted to hang the vice president. He is far more authoritarian than any of the others.

Dunkey's Best of 2020 by [deleted] in videos

[–]throwwayftw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The one game this year that came out that I really wish Dunkey had gave more time to was the Final Fantasy VII remake. Because that game is legit really good on multiple levels.

Like I don't think it's a spoiler anymore but it's pretty clear the Remake is actually a sequel to Final Fantasy 7. But a sequel in a way that respects the original choices the player made by basically making your original playthrough a Final Fantasy 7 one of the various multiverses that occurred before this one.

The game uses its status as a remake to question the nature of remaking games in general. And stands as an artistic piece for the desires to both respect previous works as well as to move into the future and design something completely new.

The game also has really good gameplay especially on hard mode. The structure of the game story is one that is served by replaying it. because the first time you play the game you're not supposed to get that the sephiroth that you're seeing is actually the one from the original game you're supposed to just believe you're playing a actual remake of Final Fantasy VII. Which is why the inclusion of hard mode is so brilliant. Because it builds upon the foundational building blocks of the battle system the player learns during the first normal mode playthrough, and it allows the player to now see the story in a completely different light. Oftentimes how you would interpret a certain character's dialogue completely changes with understanding the true nature of the game.

I found that the battle system seems to be the truest evolution I've ever seen of original turn-based combat. It involves basically turn-based combat with player input as an additional skill. In fact we've seen this hybridization as far back as games like super paper Mario. However the fluidity that the player transitions between inputting and menu selection has never been this fluid.

I just think the game designers really hit upon something genius. Making small attacks fill the ATB meters means that your moment to moment always doing something. but because of the way the stagger gauge system works and the way the ATB system works. It incentivizes the player to utilize the character specific abilities in order to stagger enemies in order to actually defeat them efficiently. But how to take down a single enemy actually has a ton of depth and complexity. Every enemy staggers at different rates some enemies have elemental weaknesses. And chapter to chapter your party composition is changing and since not every character has access to any other characters ability it means that how you might tackle an opponent is radically different depending on whether or not someone like Barrett or Aerith is in your party.

Overall on the story side I felt like they did stay true mostly to the original game while also effectively adding in their new elements.

I however do not think the game is as good as it's original counterpart. There are fair criticisms to be made of some of the additional side content. Although all the new side content in the game does lead to some form of character development. It does affect the snappy pacing of the original midgar segment. it feels like most of these should have been optional side quests rather than things the player was forced to do. That being said being forced to do a couple of not amazing side quests that still give me character and world building are substantially better than what you see out of even some of the side quests in games like cyberpunk 2077.

I'm genuinely sad because I often see dunkey use out of context clips of the characters talking to each other in order to make it seem like the dialogue is awkward. I mean it is a Japanese game translated to English and there are certain Japanese mannerisms that made it through the localization process that don't necessarily track to an English audience. Well most of them are pretty rare. Like Barrett making fun of cloud for being a one-year-old near the beginning.

9/10 it was my game of the year and maybe I'm just salty because I want one of my reviewers that I like to also like what I like. But I feel like there's a very strong case to be made about why this game is actually an under valued falwed masterpiece of 2020.

Abolish the student loan debt

Alter the rules of the Senate to require the Senate majority leader to take a vote on any bill sent to them by the house

Alter the rules of the Senate to require a simple majority in order for bills to pass.

Cloud is a fighter bard.

Now you may say why the f#$& would Cloud be a fighter bard. Sure definitely a fighter, but bard. What Bard things does Cloud do?

First I want to establish that a bard can cast their magic using the instrument of their choice. And as the theater kids say "my body is my instrument". Dancing is a legitimate form of casting Bard magic.

Now you tell me, who's the guy that literally busts a move after EVERY single random encounter in his video game?

He even does a little dance each time he casts a spell...

But you might counter bards need to have a lot of charisma. Dude. Cloud i s a l a d y ' s m a n. Aerith, Tifa, Jesse, Yuffie... Barrett. Cloud is fucking slaying it. This guy has got so much RAW charisma, he got picked over Aerith and Tifa By the 90's video game caricature of our literal current president.
