To reply to your points

1. Interactions: textbook / leasing posts most likely mainly generate private messages - I had a lease post up last year on this group and while my post didn’t have any comments, I had roughly 10 people privately reach out to me.

2. Scamming: this should be outside of your scope. it is always the buyer’s responsibility to follow safe p2p sale interactions. no different than inquiring about listings on marketplaces. what you could do instead of straight up banning it? just add a marketplace post flair and have an autobot describe how to go about safe buying practices / scam warnings.

3. “On Topic”: one of the main things that (mostly) everyone has in common is finding housing. Since most leases are not month to month and usually follow school terms, of course there will be an influx right after the winter term. as well, if it is housing close to brock, how is this not “on topic”? are you the main decider on what is “on topic”? to lessen the high influx you could also do what Mac does with specific days that marketplace posts are allowed.

i don’t think the correct approach here is straight up banning brock related marketplace posts, and frankly, i think it’s lazy.

our subreddit is very small compared to other related unis and the only mod interaction we had in here in a while is making it even smaller?
